Holiday Confessions

I love cheesy Christmas songs. I especially love singing them to my kids, who crack up every time.

Maybe it's my voice, and not the songs, though.

I'm using this as an excuse to sit in bed eating crackers for five days?

Ray just cut his toenails today.

I can't watch Nestor the Long-Eared Christmas Donkey - I cry every time. How pathetic is that?

I believe in Santa Claus.

I'm crazy over turkey giblets and will fight the cats for them.

I cheat on my taxes.


Wait...

I sneaked out of the kitchen after making turkey, gravy, sourdough biscuits from scratch, sour cream and garlic mashed potatoes, cranberry chutney and dressing and am sitting here at the computer drinking a Corona while DH organizes the remaining whatever.

I don't want to go back into the kitchen.

It's 3:00, my whole family's over, and I still haven't left my room.

I've eaten so much chocolate already, I almost don't have room for turkey!

As Thanksgiving is in October up here and we DO NOT make a deal out of it at all except for maybe putting wine on the table and having friends/family over for dinner...maybe...I have no Thanksgiving holiday confessions. Well, except for the fact that pumpkin pie is more readily available and my wife doesn't look at me like she hates me when I come sit down beside her on the couch with an entire pumpkin pie and a fork and proceed to eat the whole thing without offering her even a bite. She's cool that way. And pumpkin pies are like, four bucks. Is it a confession to say I eat them in one sitting if I don't feel guilty about doing so?

The mashed potatoes I make for Christmas dinner have a whole brick of cream cheese and a small tub of sour cream in them. (that is why we eat them only once a year)

I'm not getting dressed today and I'm having pie for dinner.

This is one of the few days I won't cook all year, and I haven't lifted a finger to help my poor harassed wife, who is WAY over her head in pots and pans and food of all descriptions. And I ain't helping with cleaning the dishes either, so there!

Sweetie, mine had an entire stick of real butter and a pint of sour cream. And crushed garlic. Oh, and sea salt.

And it's just too crowded in the kitchen now, what with DH hand washing the good china.

i don't like stuffing.

and... i still don't get how to play dreidel even though i've been a jew since i was born.
