View Full Version : Can somebody help me???

02-26-2005, 11:50 PM
Okay, I have got the 50 posts done and came up with a super title that has a special purpose and meaning to me. But I need a unique avatar and have no idea how to get one. I would like something like a hillbilly or something very hillbilly-like. Can anyone help me???? The more you get to know me the more you will find I am a very unique person - possibly on the verge of eccentric and I just want to show that here on the boards.

Anyone?????? :poke:

Sorry. Do a Google image search and find a picture you'd like to use, then tell me the URL and I'll help you turn it into your avatar. If you like.

I can't seem to find any hillbilly images... I did a search and all I got - when I got images- was pics of cowboys. Now I don't know what to do...

Ok, give me an idea of the kind of thing you're looking for.

This is my favourite hillbilly, by the way...

I would like a stereo-typical pic of a hillbilly woman in rags. Hell even an old outhouse pic would work in a pinch. A brown jug, anything that is from the stereotype of mind for a hillbilly. Oh BTW thanks for trying to help

Actually, I'm a guy so this is my favourite hillbilly...

Anyway, how about this lovely lady...

Do you want just her face, or her whole body (bear in mind the size of an avatar)?

Can they be animated? I have a great image of a Hillbilly Pa in a rocking chair holding a shotgun. It's small and would fit the size requirements. The animation is the rocking. It's on a disc somewhere and I'll find it if you want me to. You might not want it though - being Pa instead of Ma.

As much of her as possible and still be able to recognize who it is

Hermit I would love to see it. I actually have relatives who are tootless and wear rags and carry shotguns and drink moonshine. I find that mentality interesting. They are some of my favorite relatives.

Joanne posted this link over in the "New Avatars" thread on the Water Cooler Announcements forum.

900 avatars! One of them would surely do in a pinch.

EDIT: ignore that, the size limit's changed.

Three Seven, Have you abandoned me?

02-27-2005, 01:32 AM
Thanks Paprika for the link but I didn't see anything I liked. There was nothing that stood out. But thanks for trying.

Those hillbilly pictures are too funny. Thanks for the link to the 900 avatars, I hadn't seen that before.

Nope, just working on a few alternatives...

Or you can have them on a background that won't show up over on the left:

Those are all actual size. Anything useful there?

The top either background....What do I do now???

1) Save the one you want to your hard drive.

2) Go to User CP

3) Go to Edit Avatar (on left sidebar)

4) Go to bottom of page and press 'Browse'

5) Select the picture from wherever you saved it and click 'OK'.

6) Follow any further instructions it gives you and it should just upload itself.

7) If you get stuck give me a shout.

UHHH, How do I save it to my computer??:(

Here's a link to Animation Factory's "Hillbilly" page. I don't see the one that I got years ago but they have a whole bunch of equally good ones. They are all free too.

I'll keep looking for the one I have too. It was a big hit on my website years ago.

Edited to add: I just noticed on Page 2 of the link....the picture is there!

Hermit, those are hilarious!

I'm a computer idiot (at least that's what my college-age kids insist), able to muddle along only because I've mastered a very small amount of the basics.

So I thought I'd just make do with a 'canned' avatar and call it done--until I saw these instructions. Even I understand them! Now I just have to find the perfect image.

BTW, are we to re-size the image, or is that done when it becomes an avatar? And what size is required?

Maryn, grateful for simple explanations

You'll need to resize it to a maximum of 80x80 pixels.
