When I registered at the thing I was dubious about it but Facebook has now conquered my heart! How? I hear you ask.

My best friend from elementary found me on it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh my god! I'd been wanting to reconnect for over ten years! My mother lost her address when we moved to India. I'd given up ever finding her again. I found my other best friend from elementary on facebook as well! I cried like an idiot :D Good thing I live on my own :p

There's only one friend left to track. The only problem with her is that she was into changing her appeareance and all the pictures of girls with the same name as her are either clearly not her or of someone turning their back on the camera :/ She ain't making it easy.

I had to share my happiness :)

That's so nice you were able to connect with your elementary friends. One of my friends from high school that I have not seen since our graduation (4 1/2 years now) contacted me through Facebook last week and it was so great to talk to her again. And it's a good way for me to keep in touch with all my college friends, now that we've graduated and work full time. I hope you find your other friend. :)

hey! me too and me too! I love facebook and hated elementary. Although if you were bare that might suggest why they were picking on you... o_O Just kidding.
I love some of the applications on it too, although it helps if you pick and choose your applications.
My favourite app is iread. You can post books you have read, are reading, want to read. If you tag a book as want to read, it will tell you which of your friends has a copy. I did that and it came up with Lady Cat owning a copy.. but it was already at my house! hahaha! Ta very much LadyCat.

Ok, Ill be the one to ask...
What is Facebook?
HA. Someone asked me that last night. I just pulled out my best Gregory House impersonation and said, "Seriously?"

It's myspace II, only with less obnoxious backgrounds. It used to be just for college kids to network, now it's gone and become uber-lame and it's for anyone. Trouble is, it's the easiest way for me to keep in touch with my friend serving in Korea, so I haven't deleted the account.

I resisted the urge to join Facebook but finally gave in and found some old friends plus was able to clear my conscience when an old flame contacted me and it gave me an opportunity to apologize for the way I treated him back in high school HUGE weight off my chest! :)

It can be a pretty intrusive fishbowl though and so I'm careful about what I post there realizing that people can be connected to one another by me if I'm not careful about my settings, etc. People can post pictures of you, etc and if you don't want embarrassing pictures of you posted from a friend who knows too much about you to be visible to people you work with, go to church with, etc, etc...be careful.

It's probably the only online social tool I use that I don't use for my writing.

I have a facebook, and I love it. I like sooo much better than myspace. The apps. on facebook are so much fun, cause i love superpoking all my friends. Or sending them free gifts with funny saying in the message. hehe, dang, now I want to go on there...stupid school computer.

Yes, the interconnection thing can be very weird.. I have blocked some people because of who is on their friends list. I don't want those third parties to have access.

you couldve just changed your privacy settings. ;)

Up at the house.
OK so I joined and searched. I've went to 7 schools and held over 50 jobs. I've done indie movie soundtracks. I couldn't find anyone I knew. What a heartache.

but you know us! I use facebook because my family is spread across the country, and my friends are across several oceans.. is easier and cheaper to contact them, can upload my mobile phone photos, and share family photos with each other.

my number one fear of these social networking sites has just been realized:

this creepy, annoying dude i used to know back in school is trying to add me.

he's even "poked me".

i have some privacy filters in place, you can't search for me, but he got me because we share some of the same friends.

annoying.

far from the madding crowd
I am actually keeping in touch with most members of my very large family across the ocean, and my various friends in various countries. I was in deep doo-doo with most of them for years, due to failure to keep in touch. I don't much like talking on the phone, or the expense of international calls. I'm loving Facebook.
*keeping my fingers crossed that all the exes don't find me*

I'm in touch with my family on facebook and my wife and I have come across quite a few friends we haven't seen for over 20 years. One friend, I even found after about 30 years. We were best friends as kids and I moved out of the neighbourhood. He's in Florida now and I found him through a group somebody created for our old elementary school. I find Facebook quite trippy!

Peer Pressure (sigh)

I gotta admit... I have both a MySpace and Facebook account. I still say this somewhat shamefully :) However, in the two years or so that I've had these accounts, I have reconnected with a lot of people, and it has been an easier way to keep in touch with out of town friends. So, I suppose it's a necessary evil, and I will continue to field those annoying friend requests from wannabe porn stars and Ghosts of Grade School Past....
