is there any way to configure the 'advanced search' feature so that it doesn't exclude search terms under 4 letters?

it's severely limiting my ability to find posts on "egg", "sex" and "joy".

FWIW, using the wildcard sometimes works (e.g., egg* finds eggs, eggnog, etc.).

But, yeah, it's danged annoying.
