No! I don't mean that!

I heard a story on the news about cancer research and such and such like that there, hey, and they said that its best to restrict your red meat consumption.

Then they said restrict it to 18 ounces of meat.

A week.

And I got out my calculator and figured that's 2.6 ounces of meat a day.

Can a person survive on just 2.6 ounces of food a day?

I mean, I'd starve. What else is there to eat?

Guess I'd have to eat more potatoes.

I guess I could stomach chicken once in awhile.

Is lamb a red meat? I like lamb.

I could eat pork. Isn't that the other white meat? Or is that just a marketing slogan? Where does pork fall on the meat color scale for real?

I think you'll be okay, as long as you don't eat these:

Red meat is beef; steak, burgers, roasts.

Even so, 18 ounces a week isn't much - four and a half quarter pound burgers equal that!

This is what I'm saying! 4 burgers and then what? I fast for 3 days?

I mean, I've fasted before, but not for 3 days. 24 hours is hard enough.

I make a mean pappardelle with puttanesca. I'll send you some, Shadow. You look like you could stand to gain a few.

You do realise you're allowed to eat things other than meat, too? Like...dairy. Carbs. Fats. Fruit. Vegetables.

Meat is not the only food group.

I tire of people telling me what I should eat in order to prolong my life. Are people that afraid of death?

I say eat what you want. You only live once. Enjoy it.

We had 22 oz ribeyes here (http://http://www.islandviewcasino.com/menuCG.html) for my daughter's ninth birthday. Each. Even the nine-year-old ate her own 22 oz ribeye. She says "Yum" whenever we pass a field of cows on the highway.

Ya know what, a grilled ribeye is just chock full of carcinogens.

And they're freaky yummy.

I absolutely love red meat but we try to limit it to once a week. Sometimes we'll skip a couple weeks then double up.

Pork, turkey, chicken - all good. Then there's fish. Yum.

A serving of red meat is supposed to be four ounces, right? So four servings of red meat a week is reasonable. Think about it. A Quarter Pounder is roughly 1/4 of the recommended amount. You can have fish, chicken, pork - That's salmon, shrimp, scallops, pork chops, roast pork, chicken wings, boneless chicken stir fry, tuna sandwich on whole wheat, etc. We haven't hit the beef yet and we're already into the weekend!

I don't think I could possibly make it through an 18 or 22 oz. steak these days. Yikes!

I need around 30 ounces of red meat a week (that with oat, milk etc). Chicken is out of question (I can't eat that bloodless thing). Fish is great but so expensive.

Cancer researchers don't care if you are malnurished, they only care about cancer. Did you know that if you quit eating you won't die of cancer?

You will if you keep breathing and drinking.

The recommendation is actually only 50% of average American intake. And there are otherways to get the same effect (i.e. just don't eat too much in general)
