I'm just curious how far some people are willing to go with this recycling thing...

Wow. At least the part with the skidmarks is what's cut away, eh?

When my husband is "done" with his, there's literally not enough left of them even for a skimpy top. He wears everything until it's falling off him just so he doesn't have to shop. He cycles without needing to REcycle.

That said, ew.

Some ladies in Georgetown were cutting them up, hemming them and 'Bead-Dazzling' them and selling them in a boutique for $29.00 bucks each.

But I'm sure they were altering 'new' and not used.

BTW I recycle yearly...cut up properly..and if cotton...great rags...great.

...oh...I compost, too.

Here I thought this was going to be a serious discussion and I went and turned on images.

I will now go back and turn off images.

Thank you.

I think it would be hilarious to see a guy wear those now.

Penn and Teller did an interesting show about recycling. They found that it takes just as much energy and money to recycle as it does just to make new stuff. And as for the landfills overflowing with garbage they said it would take several hundred years for the whole country to make enough trash to fill a small town. Or something like that.

I'm not saying that's all true. It's just one study that I happened to see.

Isn't recycling supposed to reduce pollution?

My mind has been polluted so I'm ruling this out as an example of recycling.

I think, to really make a difference, the emphasis needs to be on REDUCE and REUSE, instead of recycle. Recycling still involves a manufacturing process to remake bottles, cans and paper into other bottles, cans and paper.

First, BF: EWWW...I can't even imagine what would motivate anyone to wear that, new or used. I don't even think they look good worn properly. Mr. Groove wears boxers, thank GOD.

I saw that Penn&Teller thing too. What they said was recycling plastic bottles and paper wasn't cost effective. Cans were ok. They pointed out that cans are the only recycling homeless people collect. They said most of the trees that go into making paper were grown to make paper, so in a way, using paper promotes MORE trees. I agree with Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle but now I know what to recycle and what not to worry about. I really appreciated that show. They went to a landfill, saw what they do to protect the land around it, they talked to experts and they talked to people who support it, so I felt it was a fair show.

ETA: I sorta meandered there a bit. Oh well.

Twenty years ago, girls were sewing up the fly of mens boxers and using them as shorts. Do they still do that?

I have done that, but only as pajamas. ANd they were brand spanking NEW.
