A friend of ours in Irvine is being evacuated due to the massive fire. We were there earlier and saw the fire up close. So scarey! We are covered in smoke here and we are miles away!

We've had our windows and doors shut tight all day. We went outside once and it was simply miserable. Ugh.

I haven't been outside today.
I'm having breathing trouble indoors with windows all shut and air filters going on max.

:(

Yeah, we closed all our windows and moved an extra sharper image filter in to the bedroom. Kids have asthma and I have asthma that is aggravated by pollution (smoke also being pollution). I just hope it doesn't get worse!

I'm more worred about our friend's house! He was just ordered to evacuate and we saw how close it was to his house, no kidding... only a couple blocks about 2 hours ago!

Yeah, I'm asthmatic too. Lungs have felt mildly on fire all day.

I hate that burning sensation in your lungs, you only understand how much it sux if you've had it. My husband still doesn't understand why it freaks me out so much...

Shweta-
Advair 500/50 is about as strong as you can get. It's used twice daily. I went to a health store and talked to someone who is well versed on the remedies. He gave me a couple to use and I swear within 12 hours I noticed a difference, within a couple days I was 100% comfortable going off my daily regime. Which is HUGE for me... I've had a collapsed lung from a puncture (due to asthma) and major issues ever since, hence why I was on such a strong prescription. I'm off all of that now, I only use my rescure inhaler from time to time (pro-vent).

I was on Advair for a week.
My peak flow was as good as it's ever been. However.
I was fuzzyheaded.
I had jitters.
I had panic attacks, anxiety attacks, weeping bouts.
I couldn't finish sentences.
I had severe memory loss. I lost hours on end.
I think there was more, but I've forgotten.

I've tried just about everything for the asthma, except that one place in India where you're supposed to swallow a live fish.

This guy noticed that a number of symptoms I had were connected by one thing... my liver (nails, hair, skin and lungs), he gave a combo of things to use and all I can say is it is working like magic. Some liver detox thing and cough thing.

Nice :)

So back to the fire, are you guys in any danger of evacuation? I think we're safe (in La Jolla)...

No, we're fine here, different city. We were at our friend's house, about 20 minutes from here (he's the one practically across the street from the fire). But the smoke is getting thick here (the wind is blowing the water towards the pacific).

Sorry to hear about your friend. I hope everything works out for him.
Kadea take care of you and your kids, asthma is no laughing matter.
I dated a girl who has it, she would be fine one minute and using her inhaler the next.
Good luck. I'll be thinking of your friend's plight.

UCSD is closed today and tomorrow. I'm in La Jolla. If you zoom in on the map a bit you'll see that La Jolla is fine but a bit surrounded.

My husband and I aren't in the evacuation areas, at least not yet. We
do have an emergency bag packed, though. I can taste the smoke,
though with air filters we probably have the best air quality in a 50-
mile radius.

You're sweet, but we couldn't get there. If we're leaving it'll be by plane to San Francisco. If planes get to SF and aren't packed full. Or through a red cross evacuation center.

So sorry that's happened and hope and pray everyone will be alright. :e2grouphu

Just for you, Susie, we'll do our best! :Hug2:

It's cool here, and pouring off and on. I'm sending it west as hard as I can! Let me know when it arrives.

On a recent visit to Yosemite, they were doing some controlled burns, and the smoke from distant fires can really get to you even if you have healthy lungs. I can only imagine how difficult it must be for people with asthma.

You all take the best care of yourselves you can, until my rain reaches you, okay?

Maryn, enjoying her grey climate especially much

I bailed. I'm up a half hour north of La Jolla now, north of Carlsbad, where it was clear last night. Now however it's raining ash. We're all wondering if we should keep heading north, or what.

Shweta, waiting to make a decision.

Air is better in OC today (at least looks that way), probably better than in SD county. But there is certainly a layer of ash on EVERYTHING. Seeing blue sky is nice though, unlike the layer of smoke that looks like dense clouds over SD county!
