Since last year I've been saying, to myself that I want to be a columnist for one my country's newspapers. At the beginning of this year, I put it on my goal sheet.
Last week, I wrote the editor of the newspaper. I did some work for her several years ago and often drop her a line about my writing accomplishments. I sent her an article to consider for International Woman's Day. I took the opportunity to remind her that I still wanted to write for the paper.
After two days, I received a call from the features editor, saying that the editor gave her my name telling her that I wanted to write a decorating column.
My first piece went off yesterday for proofing and the weekly column will be published on 5th March. Oh, and the pay is quite nice too, for a newspaper.
