I feel down my back steps and twisted my ankle when I went out to get my kids after they came back from visiting with their father.

I cannot believe I did that. A combination of flip flops, lack of light, and rushing caused me to injure myself. Now I have to hobble around after busy infants until this gets better.

Crap. I suck today.

Tomorrow should be better.

Yo mama wears combat boots!
Maybe you should too.

Seriously if you can still walk tomorrow wear something with ankle support.

Hope you feel better.

*pinches the back of your arm on that soft fleshy part*

you play nice mister!

*twists it harder*

Or I will stop inflicting pain on you. :)

*looks up*

Oh..sorry...that really does suck. Make sure you ice it okay?

*hugs*
Keep it up and you might find true love someday.

If you're young enough to need to chase after infants, you should heal pretty quickly. I took a tumble down the basement stairs when our kids were small, and I was blown away by how soon I could walk normally on that twisted ankle, considering how bad it was at first.

RICE it!
Rest - little or no weight bearing for the first 24 hours after the injury
Ice - apply ice packs intermittantly for 24 hours, using a towel over a plastic bag
Compression - an ACE bandage prevents edema.
Elevation - elevating the ankle above the hip or heart lets gravity pull edema out of the ankle.

Maryn, hoping your hobbling days are limited in number

This is why flip-flops are of the devil. :) Perhaps try taking a bath with some epsom salts? That always helps (says me, who potentially knows nothing)

Dear Angie,

A pox upon your camels and your tents.

Love,

Yes the ice made it feel better for a little while. It was hard keeping it on there though with my two year old. She kept pulling it off. And hitting me. She was evil yesterday. And also her jackass father tried to leave them here today. Because he thought that would be easier for me becuase I wouldn't have to get them dressed. I would just have to worry about everything else that goes into taking care of two babies.

And I didn't miss the step apparently, I slipped a CD that someone had left on the ground. Great.

Well, sure, because taking care of young children isn't REAL work, right? You just sit on your butt the whole time they're with you, anyway, don't you?

Argh, I slipped on a piece of plastic wrapping that came off my niece's toy once. But I landed on my well-padded backside, so I wasn't injured. :D
