...please?

Can someone give me a real translation for the following? I've tried software in the past and been laughed at by speakers of the translated language.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I need the following translated to "Mexican" Spanish.

“But, Dad! I thought we wore the mask so we DIDN'T have to wash behind our ears!”

Thank you. :D

I don't have the spanish keyboard, so you know, exclamation points on both sides.

Pero, Papa/Papi! Yo pensaba que llevabamos la mascara para no tener que lavar atras de los sentidos!

(Actually, we'd probably say "orejas" instead of "sentidos" in our house cuz we'se ghetto like that. You can also use oidos for ears.)
Now, bear in mind that this is colloquial. Dama can probably give you a more grammatically correct translation, but this is how we'd say it around our house.

Oh, and the NO would be boldeded, for stressing the negative.

they say orejas here too, but perhaps that says something about where we are. ;)

Orejas would be more commonly used in relaxed conversation, especially among kids. I never use sentidos, but I know it's the more proper word. Sometimes I do say oidos, but it sounds funny, doesn't it?

ETA: I spent my first two months here in a house with a 2-yr old, so he was learning all his body parts. Now I know them too. :)

So, if I distilled this all correctly, THIS would be the correct translation?

¡Pero, Papi! ¡Yo pensaba que llevabamos la mascara para NO tener que lavar atras de los orejas!

With the inverted exclamation points at the start of any sentence that ends with a regular one, right?

Thanks you guys. This part of the forum is like a little gold mine! :D

Thanks for the catch.

It's a bit of stuff and nonsense for a very silly (but awesomely fun) project I am working on. But I really wanted it to be right.

Thanks again, folks!

In Spain you'd never EVER use 'sentidos' for ears!!!!! 'Sentidos' refers to the senses. 'Orejas' is used for animal ears, or the external part of the human ear. 'Oídos' is for human ears. And just for the record, a nose, ears and throat specialist is called an 'otolaringólogo'!
