All Dog Lovers Help Me Celebrate My Success

Upon checking my mail when I got home from work, I received a letter from the NASDA organization. I have been training my 2 dogs for years in Search and Rescue work. Some of the training was basic training, most of it was 'seeking'.

I queried the NASDA about becoming part of their team, I sent my dogs current credentials and they are willing to train me under their educational courses!!

Okay, so I am not a team member yet and it will be hard work, but my dogs have been nothing but the best and they love to work. This is my reward for them being such great dogs....finally a way for them to serve their community after years of hard work! I say that, but the hard part is just beginning!

My oldest dog is 2.5 and she has been in training for the last 2 years.
My other dog is a year old and I have been training her since puppyhood.
My neighbors dog gets in on it too.
It's a lot of fun!!

Uuummm.....my Great Pyrenees did this and she weighs 110lbs @ 1yr.
After awhile it got to be not so cute any more!!
In her line of work I had to keep her from it.
I can't imagine her finding a victim and then trying to "hug" them.
My neighbors dog is an older female lab named Sara Lee.
She does hospital and senior center work. I wouldn't mind doing that except I like to be on the move, and so do my dogs.
They're classed as Type 1 working class dogs, which means they need constant training and something to do.
Have you ever tried taking Jackie to a farm and letting her "herd" some animals? I bet she would enjoy it. That is if you can find a farm.
My sisters Newfoundland was herding chickens (I know....) in less than an hour, meaning she was a natural. They also have summer camps for working class dogs. You will have to excuse me when I say...if you have a dog classed as a working dog.......by all means give them something to do, they will love you for it even more. But that's just MHO.

My avatar dog is Jackie. She's a bit too lovable. I tried to make her a therapy dog (even took her to Bide-a-Wee for evaluation) but she's got this dog habit of jumping up at peoiple. She doesn't place her paws on a persons chest; she wraps her "arms" around the person and yet has a feather touch to the huggee. I can probably break her from that habit, but it's so unique that I feel I'd be taking away something she really enjoys. Other than that, she's well trained.

Seriously, have you ever eaten one? They're tasty. My buddy and I were munching on them over a game of D&D about 30 years ago, because we're old farts, and my doggie gave us the soulful stare that made us stop. Those were his Milk Bones.

I do however LOVE LOVE LOVE the peanut butter dog cookies.
They look like Oreos just brown with peanut butter!
