My family moved and didn't tell me the new address!
:Jaw:

But I've tracked you down. I know, I know, the address was right there. But I went to the old site twice and thought "Gee, it sure is quiet around here" before it dawned on me to click on that We Moved topic.

Whew. It's eerie. I can hear my footsteps echoing in the empty corridors. Of this website, yeah, that's what I meant.

Anyhoo, clearly, this is a much nicer place. I do like change. I was a bit startled at first, but my pulse rate is returning to near-normal now. And I have to post something -- it's like planting a flag.

And I just became a "board regular" this week! Rats.

Meanwhile, tonight when I read a post from someone I know, I gave their reputation a click thinking maybe that gizmo will help us establish whozwho. Learned two things: you can't contribute to the reputation of the same person twice in a row; and if you click the reputation thing too many times, The Forum tells you to cool it for 24 hours.

Have not learned what means that little green square under our IDs that says so-and-so is on a somethinggoodforgetwhichadjective road. Mysterious.

The little green squares are apparently reputation score-keepers. They chart our individual paths to enlightenment.

It's a way for us all to keep track of each other, and sort of a peer-pressure control on trollish tendencies...

After 50 posts, if you haven't LOST any reputation points, Jenna gives regulars privileges like posting calender events, displaying custom avatars, etc...

Ah-so, and look, you are "well respected" already. "Distinguished," that's the adjective I couldn't remember.

Howdya like the "who's online" page? Not only can you see who is online, you can see what page they are looking at and what they're doing there. It's like we ain't got no curtains. Whether you intended to be snoopy or not, :snoopy: snoop happens. I'd file this under "Fun New Toys." But it seems illicit!

It is rather startling...I happened upon it last night, testing stuff before the whole place went live, and thought, "Oh...my..."

You put your finger squarely on it! It feels like not having any curtains...<g>

That's a good question right now.
Yeah, the Who's Online thing just gives me the Big Brother heebie-jeebies. I was looking at it at one point yesterday before the place went live and Jenna was checking out Mac's profile. I thought about warning her, but then decided there probably wasn't really any reason to alarm her like that.

 I'd be more worried about it if I hadn't been looking at everyone's spiffy new profiles all day, too...

Just last night? When I got here just now, it looked like you'd all been here for days. That kinda freaked me out -- I didn't know how long I'd been prowling around the corpse of the ezboard, not even knowing it was a corpse, while everyone else was over here where the sky is blue and the birdies are singing.

Jeez. I'm feeling especially vivid tonight. I should be writing. But I'm going to bed instead. Just have to check out a few more features around here first.....

Oh! -- burning question: Is this still "the water cooler"?

Yes, pkpk, this is the Water Cooler. It was always owned by Absolute Write.

*Looks around. Surprised for the first time to realize that the full name 'Absolute Write Water Cooler' is no longer in evidence.*

At least, I don't think Jenna has dropped that name. Everyone I know has always just referred to the place as 'AW'. Whatever it's called, it's still the same place. A rose by any other name...

If the water cooler part of the name has to fade away, well these things happen. But I'd miss it. It's nice imagery and it goes well with this new color scheme.

Later when I've built up a few thousand posts (and sold a book or two) knowing "what was the water cooler?" will be the trivia question that separates...that separates...uh, the ones who know what it is from the ones who don't.

I can't find a chat room. This site doesn't have one?

'fraid not, Dhewco--Jenna looked for a board with chat, but couldn't find one that she could transfer all the archives to.

We're looking for options, though :D

OMG, how long did it take me to spot that? That's creepy. But fun.

I haven't looked at it

That's probably why I don't think it's creepy yet. Haven't had the urge.

And PK: Yep, it's still the Water Cooler. I'll have to sneak in the full title somewhere.

Well, at least the quick links menu (where Who's Online is found) is only available to registered creeps. Errr, members. Yeah. Members. That's what I meant...
