October 2007, can you believe it ?!
Another month of goals to accomplish :) Here are mine:

1. Write 3 articles/week
2. Submit to Blue Mountain 2 times (once every other week is what I'll probably do)
3. Submit to 4 new (to me) markets
4. Aim for 3-4 sales

What are yours?

l. Getting more greeting card sales and hoping for at least one to oatmeal, graphique, etc.
2. Submitting more articles to higher paying markets.
3. Find new article and greeting card markets.

Great goals, April. Bet you'll reach them. Hope I will reach mine too.:)

Dang it, folks! September's not even over yet... :poke:
I'm still shooting to complete a third of my original six.
Then, I'll worry about October...

I think I might need to start setting up weekly goals on my blog. Maybe then I won't be waiting around until the last week of the month to get serious about my goals.

A minimum of 500 words per day until the first draft of The Dragon Stone is completed.

That's really my only goal for next month. If I decide to do NaNo this year I'll also at least make an attempt to sketch out a vague resemblance of a plot and/or world in preparation.

Finish the second draft of DAE and get it typed as a third and final draft, back into manuscript format.

Think of something - anything! - for NaNo. Not a priority for me, but I'd like to do it again if possible.

Send out at least five book proposals for DAE.

Good Lord, is it that time already? I tanked last month so lets see if I can redeem myself:

1) Finish my final draft on Frenzy (I actually cleaned up several chapters but still not 100%)
2) Complete, edit and send off two shorts for publication (I sent out two - one already written, the other was new. Must try to get in two this month.)
3) Read KC's screenplay (I read one of his pieces but not the big one.)
4) Outline and start new novel for a December sub. (Outlining is half complete, then four other novel ideas stole my attention. Damn them!)

Good luck to everuong else, and thanks to Arisa for keeping us on track.

Good luck, everyone! :)

Just as a note I always post the monthly goal thread a day or two ahead of the actual month to give people time to get involved if they so wish, think about their goals etc.

I have serious preparation followed by travel until the 16th, so a half a month's goals is all I can muster. (I assume the norm is to post what I might actually be able to complete, rather than fibbing or daydreaming?)

Deep breath. Okay. Okay, I will do a final polish on my query letter. I will select a first-pick agent and send her my query. It's a matter of gathering courage, and yes, Gray Rose, you helped, even though you never saw the manuscript or the query. Thanks!

I'm going to play the game of fives (I made it up). Five things, and I'll do five of each.

So.

I'm aiming to write 5 chapters, 5 articles/essays, make 5 sales, apply for 5 grants, and come up with and pitch 5 ideas.

Very cool idea, Mridu! I might try something like that next month. I find making goals interesting and different makes me more likely to work hard at them.

As we learned in parenting class, since I didn't complete all of my goals last month, I'm going to ease up on them to the point where I feel I can get them completed...

October Goals:

1. Complete the final draft for my new short story, "Little White Truths"
2. Finish the plot outline for Death Brings the Victory
3. Edit two chapters of Death Brings the Victory
4. Complete the first draft of four chapters of Death Brings the Victory
5. Submit "Misery in Wallowing" to three e-zines.

I'm usually pretty productive around this time of year. I hope I didn't just jinx myself by writing that.

1. Get to the halfway point on draft 3 of my YA novel -- approx. 30,000 words.

1a. Read out loud and/or send via e-mail the 1st three chapters to a few trusted people and make sure the characters, the premise, etc. are coming through clearly.

2. Update my Livejournal at least twice a week.

3. Write a letter to an author whose work I like. I've never done this!

4. Finish rewrite of short story and submit it to one lit journal.

5. Help my husband outline his first NaNoWriMo novel! (We're both really excited that he's going to take part this year.)
