I was feeling a bit down the last day or so. I'm working on editing my novel for submission and the more I read the less cofident I felt. I just received feedback from the 2 final judges and I think I may be able to persevere after reading it!

Here it is:

"Pace, unknown secret is kept until the end, nice recovery of the father's reputation. Totally plausable storyline, ties all the loose ends up. Total empathy for characters. Completely satified at end of story. Loved that all the key players were male for a change. Dignity was left for the father. Great descriptions of settings. Excellent read. Bravo!"

"Strong intro and ending. Characters were very well written and believable. The story was excellent--the reader wants to keep reading to find out 'the secret' & how it will turn out for the main characters. The dialogue between the characters was also well written. This would definitely be a marketable novel. This was an excellent read! The characters grabbed me right from the beginning & I didn't want to put it down until I finished. It was refreshing to read a novel of substance & feelings that has all male main characters."

I was ready to throw in the towel until I received these comments today! I'm going to dig in and see if I can't find a way to like it myself now. 4 weeks left to edit before I turn it back in to a publisher...

That's great and all, but why are they complimenting Bravo if it's your story?

:D

Very Way Cool indeed !:snoopy: And clearly it was perfect timing :)

Baby, I told you it was good!

It's fantastic!

I'm so glad you got the boost you needed from the judges to keep you moving.

(and more selfishly, I'm glad I got to read it.)

(and even more selfishly, I was glad to hear how much they liked all male characters, since mine is also nearly all men.)

Thanks guys. You wouldn't believe it, Trish. I was so ready to give up...

And, yes...the all male comments thrilled me, as I was actually worried about that. I know that most readers are female (though, in truth I don't understand that?..being an avid reader myself.) and I didn't want to disillusion. Turns out all 6 of the judges were female too.

See I don't get that - I'm female and I prefer to read male characters. And write them.

Blaze us a trail, Kev!!

I'm with you, Muse. I love writing and reading stories with male characters.
I was worried about it a little because I have 4 males that take up the majority of the characters in my MS.

When I was finished, that was kind of my biggest concern...that it didn't represent female characters well enough. To get feedback like that was just great...it answered my biggest concern as if I actually asked about it...

Just write that son-of-a-gun and get it back to them now! You got the encouragement you needed - it was given to you for a reason - go out there and get that baby published!

I know you can do it.
