Is it feasible to approach an agent to see if they'd be interested in persuing film possiblities for an unagented, published novel? My publisher has agreed, in writing, that I am free to market for film and television. They only want to be kept informed of what I'm doing. Generated gross revenues are shared by author & publisher with author receiving 90% and publisher 10% so there would seem to be a sufficient percentage from which to pay an agent. Do you think an agent would be interested in such a proposal or am I barking up the wrong tree?

I know most agents use a separate film agent for film rights. WMA has a complete division. My agent has them handle the film rights. I know agent Kristen has blogged about this - she turns them down as there is not enough in it for her- you might submit directly to agents who handle film rights-
What are you talking about generated gross revenues? You would be selling an option- actually getting the film made is like less than one in a million...
