You know how Christmas just kinda moves back year by year?

I was wandering into a drugstore over the weekend (got a cold :( ). My head was lightly throbbing as I passed by the aisle with all the Halloween costumes and the annoying talking skulls, and I thought nothing of it until I passed by something that said

"Ho Ho HO!"

Yes, there was a Christmas aisle. It had more stuff than the Halloween aisle.

I did one of those double-takes because I wasn't feeling all that well, and then decided to just grab the Nyquil and beat it home.

I'm scared to go back. Either it's really there or I'm having serious hallucinations.

See, people complain in disgust about it because it's gross commercialism, or something...

...I don't mind. Each year, when Christmas and Halloween bump back further and further, I'm happier and happier. I adore the time of year from mid-September, through New Year's. Absolutely go bonkers for it. So this year, when September 1st came around and Halloween aisles appeared, I was happy.

So I don't mind. :)

Yeah, Hallmark has their damned ornament collections up around July 4th every year.

And people wonder why I never shop there. :p

Yesterday my mom brought out her "I bought them but I don't want them, do you?" ornaments for this year. Ick.

I did slightly feel the mood entering when she gave me a Gingerbread scented candle...I love scented candles, even more when they're sweet like that. It kind of throws you into the mood even when you're not ready.

I be LOVIN' Christmas! Not the commercial aspects, mind you, but the hot chocolate, sledding, baking, tree decorating, carolling. I actually prefer to stay away from the mall anytime near Christmas. Crap! I guess I'd better start shopping pronto.

See, the Commercial aspects just fuel me getting in the mood. I don't buy much around Christmas time. I'm just a happy person. And Halloween! I wish we had two Halloweens! Love Halloween! I'm in THAT mood all year 'round!

Yeah, I'm not so much into the Halloween. Bad memories. My dad was the guy who bought too little candy, turned off the lights at 8:30 and then chased the kids off the steps with a rolled up newspaper while I cringed inside the house in the dark. Eeps!

But husband and kids like it, so I'm dealing. Gimme Christmas, though!!

The only thing I do at Halloween is buy candy corn at a really good confectioners store - not that store-bought crap but the real thing - then I eat it all myself. I turn out the lights and pretend not to be home, so the little brats can go down the block to the Community Center and get all the free candy they want without all the car accidents.

Oh, and I have a great Halloween avatar for AW.

That's my Halloween extent. But I do love this time of year, Fall and all that.

Same here! I've had my Christmas season planned since the beginning of the year. I enjoy it so much.

I'm very Ray Bradbury about my holidays. This time of year, I love to go for walks and scrunch through leaves and enjoy the cold air and eat ripe apples off the neighbor's tree. Wintertime, I drink hot chocolate and enjoy being cold in brief periods, followed by nice and warm. We even have an electric fireplace.

I'm somewhere between Ray Bradbury and Calvin & Hobbes, I guess.

I get happy just thinking about it. :)

What a coincidence ! This time of year I love to rake leaves, and hide under the piles with a pellet gun, taking out the guy next door who tries to steal apples from my tree!

I forgot to mention this is also the time of year I dump all those poisonous spiders I've been nurturing into the pile of quivering leaves in my weirdo neighbor's yard.

Sounds like you've got a dash of Norman Rockwell mixed in there, too.;)

Yeah, probably.

And Muse, of course I'm going to win that fight, because I have a lightsaber and you have a clumsy and inelegant weapon. :D
