Okay, I know I know I know I'm not supposed to be thinking about the Hamlet thing until NaNo, but I thought I might as well try to find a working title I like.

So I looked through a bunch of Hamlet quotes and came up with these...which one/ones do you guys like?

I'll tell you my favorite after I get a few votes in.

Too Much In the Sun

Violet

Be Thou Familiar

Something is Rotten

More Matter, Less Art

Words, Words, Words

Out of the Air

The King of Infinite Space

To Be

A Thing of Nothing

Dull Revenge

Sweet Prince

ooh, how I love Hamlet. (my airplane book). I've read it a zillion times.
Let's see - I sorta like when he's talking to Polonius and he says, "words, words, words"
though I doubt that's what you're looking for. :)
also: "in the secret parts of fortune"
"a vice of kings"

Mousetrap (the play within the play)

and of the ones you listed: To Be

Okay, The King of Infinite Space is my favorite, so I'm glad it's gotten 2 votes. :)

It comes from this:

Hamlet: Denmark's a prison.

Rosencrantz: Then is the world one.

Hamlet: A goodly one, in which there are many confines, wards, and dungeons, Denmark being one o' th' worst.

Rosencrantz: We think not so, my lord.

Hamlet: Why, then 'tis none to you; for there is nothing either good or bad but thinking makes it so. To me it is a prison.

Rosencrantz: Why, then your ambition makes it one: 'tis too narrow for your mind.

Hamlet: O, God, I could be bounded in a nutshell and count myself a king of infinite space--were it not that I have bad dreams.

Hale will definitely say, "School is a prison," somewhere in my rewrite. :)

I mentioned Words, Words, Words! :)

Ooh, I like "Mousetrap"....

That's one of my favorite parts. All those conversations with Polonius are hilarious. I'm definitely going to have dear Hamlet read Sartre and call it "words, words, words," and there will most definitely be a camel-shaped cloud.

Mousetrap is pretty cool.

And well yeah for some reason I didn't mention King of Infinite Space, but it owns.

I like To Be and The King of Infinite Space.

I prefer To Be, simply because I like short, snappy titles.

To Be is my second favorite.

Haha I'm so confused.

My favorite rewrite I'ved read was a Great Gatsby...called Jake, Reinvented. I thought it would have been better if you could tell that it's from Great Gatsby from the title. I mean, once you know that it's a rewrite, the title makes sense...but I didn't realize until like chapter 3.

I like King of Infinite Space too. I think To Be would be the one that would make it most recognizable as a Hamlet remake, though.

Yeah, I know....that's why I'm tied to it, too.

But man, I like King.

Go with King then. Then when someone reads it & wonders about the name, they go back to Hamlet & reread it & find the quote, & go, "ooh, that's cool." And they never forget the quote again.

I like connections like that. They excite me when I find them out, & even more so when I was younger.

King of Infinite Space is awesome (I don't know why I didn't mention it) but it has a great feel to it.

Lots of good stuff to choose from.

Hard to say without knowing more about the topic.

For example, would "Get Thee To A Nunnery" be appropriate or just inane? Or...

Dead Danes Decomposing
Horatio's Philosophy
Alas, Poor Yorick
Pearls from Polonius
Laid by Laertes
Outrageous Fortune
Slings and Arrows
Bearing my Fardles
Doing the Mortal Coil Shuffle (to the tune of Curly Shuffle)
The Mortal Coil Shuffle (to the tune of Super Bowl Shuffle)

I just got through watching "Slings and Arrows" - a Canadian series about a company putting on a (promises to be disastrous) production of Hamlet. It was excellent fun. Just thought I'd mention it for the Hamlet lovers. Love, lust, betrayal, and much drunkeness. I heart Canadians.

...how about To Be the King of Infinite Space?

Although that's a bit long and it sounds like some kind of bizarro speculative novel.

I like the way it sounds (and I kind of like the bizarro speculative novel feel, haha) but I'm not to big a fan of mixing the lines....
