View Full Version : AW Blogchain No.11

09-22-2007, 01:36 AM
Following Cath's success with Blogchain No. 10, it's time to start a new blogchain.

The Rules Are:
First person in the chain finds the last post of the last chain and takes an element from that to base her blog post on so that the previous chain and this chain are connected. You'd also provide the permalink to that post in your post, and you would provide the link in your post to the next post to come after you.
Second and subsequent participants in the chain will take an element from the entry before theirs and encorporate it into their post. So for me to post an entry, I need to read yours and find something about your post. Maybe you wrote about cooking with avocadoes. I could mention guacomole and Mexican food. The next person could talk about spicy food. The next person about spicy cologne. The next about body odor. The next about smelly apartments they've lived in, and so on.
The last person in the chain takes an element from the post before theirs and from the first post to tie the chain together.
Put the AW Chain technorati tag into the body of your post. That code is <a href="http://technorati.com/tag/awchain" rel="tag">awchain</a> and you'll need to do it in html view.
When you're done your post, you provide a permalink to that particular entry in your post here in this thread. Because as you post to your blog, that particular entry will fall off the front page and we need to be able to find it easily. :D
Every participant posts a copy of the html code listing all the participants into their blog. It can be into your sidebar or into a blog entry. Then at the end, when we have all the permalinks, post it again with permalinks.
Comment on every post in the chain, with the exception of those you can't. Some people have blogs that don't allow those who don't have accounts at those blogsites to comment, ie LiveJournalIf you want to participate, post a link to your blog below. I'll collate them, and hope to get something kicked off in the next week or two.

So far, so good. Counting my blog we are at ten. I think we'll hold out for interest until Friday, 28 September and then start. I am traveling to San Diego on 1 October for a Sea Grant meeting, so the timing is good.

Sign up early, sign up often...

09-27-2007, 07:38 AM
i'm simply too lazy to read the instructions, but I do visit AW blogs often.

09-27-2007, 12:18 PM
Can I be a little way down the list this time? I start SF conventioning tomorrow and don't emerge till Tuesday.

09-28-2007, 09:45 PM
I have added Cath and Jen to the list, and moved Jim and Gillian towards the back of the group. Any more out there?

Since this is my first time participating, can you please... oh please... not put me too close to the top? Somewhere in the middle would be just peachy keen. :-) Thanks!!

My husband surprised me with a trip this weekend. Yay! We will be back on Monday evening, which is Sunday in the States. I will check this thread first thing.

Kat Frass.

Kat, it's not bad being first in a blogchain. I was called on to be first in my first one, Blogchain #9. I had no idea what I was doing and totally dropped the ball about sending a PM to the next person in line. Luckily I had Cath to guide me through the process and she did so with great kindness and patience.

Being second is easy as pie. Just tie the topic of your post with something mentioned in the first one. Then send the next person a PM to tell them you're done.

See? Easy! :) You'll be just fine. I promise.

THat's a pretty good description. I was trying to figure out just what to do, too. :)

09-29-2007, 01:56 AM
Thanks, Jen. :) Glad to be of help.

It's six thirty am, just woke up, nursing my cup of tea. I gotta run to work for a tad. Will come back and get to work on the Chain. I can't wait to see what Virginia left me to work with! :D

10-01-2007, 01:08 PM
We came home just a couple hours ago (just in time it seems). I'll check in the morning to see if madderblue has finished his post and go from there. Can't wait to get started!

10-01-2007, 03:43 PM
I'm done!

I see Shauna is next. I'll go pm now.

10-02-2007, 05:04 AM

I'm off to PM Kat.

10-03-2007, 07:26 PM
Okie-doke. I'll get to it later today. I'm neck-deep in edits right now and I don't want to stop the ball rolling on that since I finally got it started this morning. *s*

10-04-2007, 05:10 AM
Mine is done. You can see it here: http://fatchickconfessions.wordpress.com/2007/10/03/can-i-be-fixed-aw-blogchain-11/.

Okay, I'm in. Check it out here (http://deathwizardchronicles.blogspot.com/). I'll PM Gillian now.

10-05-2007, 03:32 AM
I'm back home from travel and the timing looks good. Everyone is doing a great job of turning their posts around. Be sure to comment on the posts that have been made. Thanks!

10-05-2007, 04:03 AM
My laptop has been acting a little wonky recently. But I am hoping to go through today and comment on everyone so far. I can't wait to read the chain in order, some very interesting twists and turns!

10-06-2007, 04:30 PM
I'm sorry I've been so slow. I'm hoping to get to it tonight, but I'll do it tomorrow at the very latest.

PS madderblue, I was at the launch of Daikaiju 3 last weekend (an Australian series with short stories only about daikaiju) so your banner gave me a start!

10-06-2007, 05:29 PM
I'm all caught up. I couldn't comment on one person's blog (I don't have a google account) and my entry is http://www.foodpast.com/aw-write-blogchain-11/. I have PM'd Asorum I think this means I'm allowed to go to sleep.

10-08-2007, 12:26 AM
My post is up at http://www.harboradvice.com/2007/10/absolute-write-blogchain-no-11.html

Thanks to everyone for participating, I'll be finishing my comments on Monday. Who's taking the next shot at this? :)

10-08-2007, 12:44 AM
Are you people still doing this? :D Great. :D Next one, I want to participate again :D

10-09-2007, 01:53 AM
I've finished commenting on all the posts. It looks like most of us have finished up with them as well.

Snowflake, sounds like you are volunteering to run the next go round :)
