Nope. It's a stop and switch. Watch the milk carefully. You'll see something floating in it one second, then the next...it's gone.

If I remember correctly, make that concoction and it will start fizzing all over your counter.

But try it. I dare ya.:D

If it's a fake, it's a good job. But I looked, and saw the milk actually changes, while the guy stands behind the glass. Seriously, watch it closely, the milk turns from liquid to solid from 2:05 to 2:10. The guy did go out of frame for about 1/2 second. It could be a stop and switch with a bit of editing magic. I don't know. But looks cool to me.

So, if it's fake, they switched while the guy was out of frame. And the from milk to sugar transition could have been done with special effect...

I can't help wondering if you did this at home, would it explode or something.

Baking soda would foam up if you mix it with vinegar. But don't think milk + honey + baking soda would blow up...

It's an edit.

At 2:01 there is a tiny black dot at the top of the circle of milk.

He walks away, and the dot disappears at 2:05, that's the switch.

If it was science, then it certainly wouldn't come out as a nice dry powder - it would be a damp gunk that you could dry out ... then you could recognise it as a sugar!

Haha. It's more a case of turning water into sugar. There's only a wee amount of sugar (lactose) in milk.

Firefox tells me I have to download a Flash Player, but when I try that I have to close Firefox, and when I do that nothing happens.

BTW: Firefox doesn't let me watch ANY of the videos on that pahge. Where the video clip should be, is just a white space. I then tried watching a YouTube video, and theres where I got the "download Flash" instructions.

If there's one thing I learned in plumbing school, it's hot's on the left, cold on the right, and sh*t flows downhill.

Or is it different in other countries? Why are the instructions to fill the glass with hot water, and yet he's using cold?

Aruna, I'm not a 'computer person' but I think your new computer may not have Adobe Flash Player (formerly Macromedia Flash Player) downloaded and installed. You can get it here. I don't remember specifics, but I think they walk you through it so that even computer dopes like me can get it up and running.

And now, back to the bait-and-switch show!

Maryn, who knows enough to be dangerous

The same reason they don't really use hot water on cooking shows. It steams up the lenses on cameras if you need to get in close.

It's a prank setup, so what put real hot water and burn yourself fooling people.

Sheesh, if they're going through the trouble making this prank, do a better edit and cut out that frame! It's a cool effect though -- you did see the "milk" transforming to the "sugar." Very seamless. Was it photoshopped, you think?

A wondrous land whose boundaries are that of imagi
Another vote for overflowing fizzy foaming mass. The chill in the freezer might delay the reaction a bit, but the honey will add enough viscosity to make the milk foam up. If you MUST try it yourself, cover the table with newspapers.
