Would it have been possible for a foraging party of the New York Militia to be operating in the Albany area in the winter of 1782-83 or were they completely dispersed by then? I can't seem to find anything about what was happening there at that time as the fighting seemed to be in the south.

Thanks in advance for info or tips about where to look.

George hung out in Newburg then, which isn't all that far from Albany (even given that distances meant different travel times then as compared to what they mean now.)

What do you mean by militia foraging party? It seems to imply active operations with security. I doubt that would have been necessary as the war had pretty much wound down and the Brits confined to the lower Hudson by the boom chains at West Point.

Thank you, Histry Nerd. As a Canuck, George didn't resonate with me as it does with you. :)
