Oh, it happened to me at Barnes and Nobles, especially when I spotted some crappy books.

It'll happen, keep writing and submitting. :)

You want to be on the COSTCO tables? I thought all of those books got there because they were so overstocked and nobody bought them so they got shipped over to Costco where they could be sold cheap to people who don't actually go to bookstores to get their books.

I will take the Barnes and Noble front table, thankyouverymuch. :)

I love bookstores. I'll spend hours in B&N, but some days I do feel like crying as I run my hand down the book spines while rolling down the aisle.

My husband never knew what the hell was wrong with me, but he finally figured it out. Smart guy. He hugs me when he sees "the look" coming. ;)

Hmm, interesting. Costco aside, this doesn't happen to me. I hang out at book stores all the time, and it's always happy. I just think, "Some day, my name is going to be here on this shelf!"

It being on the Costco table wasn't the point, dorkasaurus! LOL
It happens in ANY book setting, really.

Mine isn't published yet (it comes out around Thanksgiving) but I found myself oddly thrilled at just seeing it listed in freakin' amazon.com! Wondering how I might cope when I actually see it on shelves -- I got my galley sheets for review today and nearly cried as it was....

I'm abivalent about seeing rows upon rows of published books (which, of course, are not mine). I love having so many books to choose from, and am happy for those authors, but I yearn so much for mine to be among them.

I'm messed up, man.

Happens to me at the grocery store. The books are right by the dairy section and I feel...wistful.

I get that feeling about new screenwriters who've just broken through or won a screenplay contest, but funnily enough, not about established ones. When i see that grinning 25-year-old, whomever he may be, in a beenie hat and chin-fluff and a cloud of smugness, I feel a wee twinge.
