I don't normally do this - I look at requests for partials as potential false hope, but today I need a little false hope ! You know how it feels when you're in the middle of edits on a WIP and you have another novel waiting to be started, and you get slammed with Form Rejections - you sit there, staring at your edits, wondering why you're not a sheep farmer.

I do have a partial out right now, still in the midst of the 3-6 month (or more) wait to hear back. So to keep myself from giving up all hope, since it wasn't an exclusive partial by any means, I decided to send out another round of queries using the one that netted me the one positive response. Yesterday I got two e-sent, today both came back as No Thanks.

Dejected, I went ahead with another 3 today via email (I have 3 more ready to go snail). Got two bounced back to me right away with incorrected addresses (taken right from their web pages) but . . .

I got one: Please send me Chapter 1 as a Word attachment :)

Okay, so this just pushes the Thanks but No Thanks off for a few hours, maybe a day - but I get to smile for the rest of today (and actually I can keep smiling so long as I never check my email again :D )

Yay! A little encouragement goes a long way. So, now you know why you're not a sheep farmer, but am I not a sheep farmer?

Is it too late to apply for a job as a sheep farmer? I think I'd be good at it.

Congrats on the requests. It's GOOD news. GOOOOOOOD News. :)

Congratulations, and good luck!

:e2cheer:

Sheep farmer, eh? Why do I suddenly have visions of a nicely plowed field sprouting tufts of wool in neat rows?

...you sit there, staring at your edits, wondering why you're not a sheep farmer.

Isn't trying to herd sheep a lot like trying to land an agent? If you don't believe me, try this sheep herding game.

Congratulations and good luck! Ewe will do it!

BTW: I'm reading the most hilarious book about "Sheep Detectives." It's called Three Bags Full. You'd love it.

:snoopy: for you Christine! It's gonna happen. Just believe it.

Keep writing. Sheep are stupid. Sheep are messy. Sheep lay in their own crap & pee. After a year of having 6 females, 2 males, all females had twins...sold everyone. Came out $60 in the hole, not counting the hay fed them all year and putting the trailer in the ditch on the way to get more hay....

WRITE GIRL WRITE!!!!!

Who said chickens? Friggen fox ate all but one of 20......
