As of 11 minutes ago, I have a complete first draft of the second book in the Evernight series! I am SO HAPPY! (And relieved.) Stargazer definitely still needs some work in the rewrites, but overall I think it's in much better shape than Evernight was at this stage of the process. So I'm very encouraged.
I really thought I was in serious length trouble, too, but it turns out I'm only a couple thousand words over. I already know some sections that need a lot of pruning, so I don't think that's going to be too bad to deal with at all. For tonight, I am cracking open a beer, grinning very widely and, of course, immediately backing up said draft onto desktop and flash drive. Woohoo! Tomorrow I will catch up on the scads of e-mail I owe people. Then, on Wednesday, the rewriting begins --
