What does this mean?

I received a response to my query from an agent in the UK and I have no idea what it means. Ideas?

"And another..."

That's what it said, including the three little dots at the end. Before I respond to her, I wanted to see if anyone else out there knew what it meant. Thanks.

That's actually very creepy. Either ask what it means, or run like hell.

Ha,ha. All it said was "And another..." So I've decided to just send the first 50 pages, why not? It wasn't a no.

Check the header of the email, see if there's another recipient listed. Maybe it means the agent is passing it up the food chain?

Of course, no harm in asking the agent.

more likely a note to the agent's assistant than to you. Just send an email back asking for clarification. It probably wasn't intended for you.

So I sent the email with the first 50 pages and she emailed back right away and said, "Thanks. I'm sending your material to our reader."

Is this good, or the way to a rejection?

Who knows? Sounds promising, Roskoe. Fingers crossed.

At least it's not another - 'And another...'

Sounds good to me! At least you didn't get, like:

"....deployed."

roskoebaby

I just sent the first page pasted at the bottom of the query. But I think her original response was probably meant for an assistant, maybe she felt bad when I sent her an email, since I wasn't supposed to see it. Hey I have no problem guilt tripping my way into publication.lol

Yeah, I agree. That was meant to go to an assistant, but if it gets your pages read....it would make a fab story someday!

Reminds me of (and this is a stellar cultural reference...) the part in the movie Dude, Where's My Car? where they go to the Chinese drive-through and the lady keeps saying "and then?"

Aston Kutcher: No and then!

And then and then and then and then!

roskoebaby

LOL. You guys are killing me! We find all of the different ways to end her sentence.

"And another...brilliant author has found me. Thank you."
