Part of writing is reading, so I am told, so what are you reading? Is it something to help your work, are you learning from it? I have just finished Metro Girl- Janet Evanovich, and am currently reading bridget Jones The Edge of Reason. It is helping with my style.

Just started 'The Redbreast' by Jo Nesbo. (Crime Fiction)

Never heard of the Author before but inside cover says it's been translated from Norwegian. Read the first couple of pages and was hooked straight away.

Just finished Memoirs of a Geisha, which my other half insisted I read. To cleanse my mind I ordered 6 Robert Crais novels from Amazon, 4 of them arrived this morning (!) and I'm tearing open the jiffy bags now, Elvis Cole and Joe Pike can cure any ills.

Robert Crais. Yep one of my favourite authors Derek. That's a big jump from the Geisha.

I remember when James Herbert first came out. Think The Rats was his first, then The fog. I'm sure the magic cottage was one of his too. Seems ages ago since I've had a good book in my hand. Catherine Alliot A crowded Marriage was a good girlee book, and have Humble Pie- Gorden Ramsay on the nightstand. Not really getting into Bridget Jones but will persevere.
I watched Memoirs of a Geisha and thought it was a wonderful film. Harry Potter does noting for me as a read but I enjoy the films. Off to the library this afternoon to have a gander.

The Harry Potter thing.

But I was the one reading the books way before the hype and the movies. Back when only two were out. I wish you'd all stop copying me, actually. JK, of course, is happy you do.

The Autobiography of Malcolm X, as told to Alex Haley

Can I address the unspoken fear? It isn't boring. That's what most people expect of "important" books, isn't it? Falling asleep. That's why it's been on my shelves, unread, for over a year. Bad Michael. No donut.

What are you going to read next?

Yes, this thread is a total rip off from mum23's thread. Sorry. :D

What are you going to read after your current book? I'm going for Robert Rankin's The Toymanitor which is the sequel to Hollow Chocolate Bunnies.

I'm on a two-week break from school and loved being able to read for fun again.

I just finished Divided Minds by Pamela Spiro Wagner and Carolyn S. Spiro, M.D., a memoir about identical twins - one becomes a psychiatrist and one has schizophrenia.

And I'm halfway through Raising Lazarus, by Robert Pensack, M.D., and Dwight Williams. It's a memoir about a man with genetic heart disease.

The second one is a better book, but both were worth reading.

Just finished The Virgin Suicides by Jeffrey Eugenides and HP7.

Next on deck: A Prayer for Owen Meany by John Irving and Babyproof by Emily Giffin. I also hope to make a dent in my backlog of Glimmer Train journals.

I'm reading I Have a Bed Made of Buttermilk Pancakes by Jaclyn Moriarty. I love this style but fear I don't have the talent to emulate it. She's funny, sarcastic, ironic and true all at the same time, while writing a mysterious fairy tale. Good stuff!
