Editing Software?

Hi all,

Wondering about your opinion on editing software. A friend mentioned something called "white smoke" (I think I have that right) and said he was going to get a copy. He thinks it will help with his writing.

My knee-jerk reaction is NO! My words should be my own... does anyone have any experience with this software? Does it really add anything?

Editing software? What for? A simple word processor with change tracking is your best bet.

If your friend is a lousy writer and doesn't know how to use the tools in Word, then it probably will improve his writing.

I just checked out the software, and I don't see anything in it that can't be done better with the programs we already have a bit of the old gray matter.

Editing

Such programs might help, if they actually worked. None of them work well at all, anymore than the grammar check in Word works very well at all. Rely on this kind of software, and you're in deep do-do.
