An author said, "And kill my darlings" when discussing the editing/rewriting process. I can't recall her name. Any help?

King said it in his On Writing book, don't know if he got it elsewhere--it was in reference to editing out the things you wrote that you feel are sooooo good, but that don't aid the story.
