Many things said in threads over the past many months, and things I've come to realize about myself while talking to people here and in "real life" have me wondering . . .
Are you ever embarassed to admit liking something? Say a program on television, or a movie most people around you mock? If you sit down in front of the TV for an hour every week with a program that honestly entertains you, and gives you great enjoyment, but has no "redeeming qualities" or you've heard people make fun of it - does that embarass you?
And if so - Why?
I suppose it's basic human instinct to not want public association with something your peers don't agree with. But do you change YOUR perception of someone when you find out what they watch or enjoy?
I don't mean to turn this into True Confessions or anything - I'm just sitting here on the back deck with the laptop, after having just watched a British television show on DVD that I'd kill to discuss - but realized I'm too afraid to ask if anyone here knows it - in case it seems silly.
And that, in and of itself, is a bit silly.
No?
