Sorry, no matter how much you try, you can not ignore yourself.

...is the message you get when you try to add yourself to your ignore list.

Yeah, how 'bout that.

Try ignoring MacCannister :D

I tried. But the message was kind of boring. I was expecting hellfire or something.

And for ha-ha's, I just tried to give myself a reputation point. It was a very boring, unimaginative pop-up box that told me I couldn't. Hows-about you guys jazz up that pop-up to say something REALLY funny?

I guess ignoring yourself would be the exact inverse of John Malkovich entering his own portal.

Shoot. It's changed. I'll have to cogitate.

I ignore the part of myself which talks sense -- often. AW can't fix that.

If we're not allowed to ignore moderators and admins, does it not work the other way around? Can moderators and admins ignore the little people? I assume they can't. Otherwise Mac would have all the troublemakers on ignore.

This place has an ignore button? Oh yeah, I forgot. I just call mine the Gordon button.

Excuse me while I cover my eyes!

We can, Alan, we just don't in practice. Kinda goes against the whole point of being a mod. So as far as I know, it's not done.

Maybe under very extreme circumstances I might, but I can't honestly think of what that would be. And if someone I was ignoring came into the forum I was moderating, I'd feel obligated to click their posts and read them as part of my forum duties. I expect the other mods would do the same. Makes it kind of pointless to put anyone on ignore if you're a mod.

Now now, lets not go there. I'd hate to have to lock my own thread.

I use the words "booger" and "Joaquin Phoenix" together in the same sentence?

I have an internal ignore list, and therefore have no need of the forum's.

Neener.

Finally, a thread all to myself.

A Public Service Announcement:

‘Ignore’ helps lower your blood pressure. If you feel agitated or annoyed by some rude or unruly poster, click on their picture and “Add so-and-so to Your Ignore List.” We can’t medically treat you, but we can show you how to avoid being heavily medicated.

I totally agree. I finally put someone on 'Ignore' and was able to discontinue my blood pressure medication!

(This was a paid endorsement.)

The Ignore function is the second best function next to the secret messages of Rep points.

Putting everyone on ignore is a great way to cut down on the amount of time I spend here.

Okay, so can someone please tell me what the Ignore Function does? Is it like you can avoid all posts people make?

Stew21

if someone drives you crazy and it makes you mad and you want to not see anything the person posts, you put them on ignore. Then when they are in a thread you have posted in, instead of seeing the person's post, you see a message saying, "you have ignored this jerk, so you can't see what he wrote since it'll get you all pissed off" or something like that.
I tried it once, but I was so freaking curious about what I was missing, I took the person off ignore and just dealt with it.

You can get to your ignore list to add people through your user CP under miscellaneous in the left column, Buddy/Ignore list option.

I get ignored all the time - but nice to know I can't do it to myself.
(I bet everyone's now tried it) :)
Interestingly - it is possible to report yourself and give yourself negative rep points.

I put someone on ignore once who I was PMing with by their instigation-it meant it was 150 to one against me-I took em off cause they in reality be young cute and purdy and I am just a real old fart-eeeerascable someone once yelled in me cake hole goober piled face-so what a ya gonna do-I put Dawno on ignore and received two removable sparkly ears in the mail-I was being punished by the Dawno Goddess of Love and nurturing and silly sparkly ears-I took her off cause she din't know and she is cute even with the ears-and mods are all wonderful hall monitors-some have even been promoted to crossing guards-what wonderful kiddos they all are and I am older even then Mr. Eraser so cut me some slack and put down the crooked stick will ya?
