About four weeks ago, I saw him walking on Sixth and Ninth Street.

Shell of a man. Did not seem well and had a slow, almost pained gait.

I wanted to say 'hi' but something held me back.

Wow. So long, Joel. Always loved your reviews even when I didn't agree with you.

Ditto on not agreeing and missing him anyway. He was an icon.

That's how I felt about Frank Gifford when I saw him walking down 59th st. Poor bastard had the life sucked out of him by kathie Lee.

Yet, you'd never know it when you saw him because makeup and good lighting are a wonderful things.

R.I.P. Joel.
You were my favorite reviewer. Never pretentious and you liked a good popcorn movie as much as the rest of us.
