I just signed a contract to do some editing. Working on my professional career, I've newly discovered, is better for my self-esteem than pulling rejection notices out of the mailbox. I think I can handle the rejections of my fiction a little better just knowing someone out there values my work. Just a widdle.

Congrats Caro! I'm thrilled for you. How did you find the work? What kind of editing is it? Good for you to free lance your way to publication. It's got to be good for your long-term career as a writer.

Thanks for the congrats, everybody. I'm a technical documentation specialist, and have been for more than 10 years (off and on). I'm editing technical documents for a hi-tech company. Not exciting or thrilling (or, sadly, a path to publication) but I'm good at it and it pays v. well.

Coo! 'Technical documentation specialist'! Smell 'er!

Well done and jingle all that coinage til your own stuff hits pay-dirt (God, I'm so American today!).
