I wouldn't want to see her in that role.
A women would be fine, a lesbian or gay person would be fine, but not her.
I just know that somehow she would muck it up. Turn it into her private comedy show, or place to rant, sooner, or later.

I don't think she could do it with the class that the show demands.

They'd never have the chance to give anything away with her running her big mouth all the time.

I sent her a note on her site telling her the same thing.

Agreed with everything, until you said "the class that the show demands". Yeah, a buncha trailer park dwellin', disillusioned simpletons trying to guess the price of a bedroom set that wouldn't fit into their sardine can of a home in the first place? Now that's class. :)

Yeah, but they all go home and you never see them again.

I hate to tell y'all this, but not all of ol' Bob's fans are 'a buncha trailer park dwellin', disillusioned simpletons' living in 'sardine can' homes. I haven't watched his show since I lived at home with my folks, but my sister and my niece wouldn't miss 'The Price is Right'... neither of them is simple, nor do they dwell in a trailer park and both live in fairly large, nice homes. What's the attraction to Bob and the show? I have no idea... but folks from all walks of life like the man and his brand of entertainment.

I grew up watching The Price As Right. When I was really little (maybe 3 or 4) I watched it everyday with my grandma. She died when I was 8 but I will always remember sitting there, snuggled on the couch with her, watching it.

As an adult, I've watched it on and off...working nights does not make it easy to watch shows that are on in the morning.

I am certainly not a trailer park dwellin', disillusioned simpleton. How incredibly offensive. Just say you don't watch it and leave it at that. In fact, I believe dclary (sorry if it wasn't you, deek!) said his father went on the show and won a car and money. I'm sure he'd be offended to know what you think of his father.

Rosie as the host. Well, like I said in another thread, that would probably be the best way for CBS to fuck up an American classic. I wish they'd just let the show retire with Bob.

I've been watching The Price Is Right for over thirty years now and would never watch it if Rosie took over...Like Kristie said, that's one way to ruin a classic.... They should let it go and be done with it. No one can replace Bob Barker, except maybe George Hamilton :)

Definitely wouldn't want to see Rosie up there. I've been trying to come up with someone who would fit the job and haven't been able to do it.

Jesus, people, lighten up! When I was a kid, pretending to be sick, I'd watch it too. It didn't disillusion me from understanding the show's target audience.

Please, oh please, forgive me for offending people's faith in a stupid goddamned t.v. show.

Definitely wouldn't want to see her there. Everything she's done has been messed up including one of my favorite magazines, McCall's! Sure hope they have someone that has charimsa and some class.

CBS never makes those kinds of judgment errors. Look at their nightly news broadcast...

Hahaha, robeiae!

I think Kristie makes a good point: Let the show retire along with Mr. Barker. After all: The Price is Right = Bob Barker ---- just as The Match Game = Gene Rayburn, and Family Feud = Richard Dawson, and Jeopardy = Alex Trebek, and Wheel of Fortune = Pat Sajak & Vanna White, and .....

Aw, gee -- maybe I'm revealing too much about that side of myself ....

I'd like to think CBS wouldn't be that stupid, but then again...

Edit - Bob Barker said he isn't sure they want a "lady host." Hate to break it to him, but she ain't no lady...

There's only one person for this job.

E! Network's charismatic, handsome and witty...the one and only....

Todd Newton.

I shudder to think what her catch phrase at the end of the show would be.

PS In Canada it was always hard to estimate the price of the showcases because of the darn exchange rate. No fair!

Show's over, far as I'm concerned. Bob Barker made the show what it was; they can recycle as many of the Barker's Beauties as they want, but the host sets the tone. Rosie O'Donnell would find a way to rework it into a six-hour extravaganza like Univision's Sabado Gigante so she could squeeze a talk show into the middle third, and possibly have Elmo from Sesame Street as a special guest/host 20 times a month. I'd rather shove needles in my eyes.

Rosie O' Donnell is just plain offensive. She needs to be on a show that equates with her personality and that certainly isn't the price is right.

I was really weirded out by Bob Barkers endorsement. What's his problem?

Maybe they could get Donny Osmond instead of Rosie. Or maybe Tom Selleck.

ETA: Hey, what about Donald Trump? It could be a whole new show. Contestants could guess the price of skyscrapers and casinos.

Back in '01, I sat in the audience for an episode taping of TPIR. I was out in LA for a college semester, and one of my roommates actually made it up there! She lost her game, but got a very nice DVD system (although no one tells you about the taxes you have to pay on all the stuff you win). When she was called down to Contestant's Row, I was sitting right next to her and was on TV for about 1.5 seconds.

You will not believe how small the studio audience really is. They do a great job of making it look huge, but it's not.

Anyway, making Rosie host will, I think, drive away a huge portion of their audience. I admit, I haven't watched it in years (here's another girl who watched it with her grandparents), and I will also admit that I was a fan of Rosie's afternoon talk show. But the talk show worked for her, because it was an open mike. TPIR is not an open mike.

I've also been hearing rumours about John O'Hurley for the host. I'd love to see him doing that.
