Kansas! Again.
I got a paying gig to write walk-throughs for a popular MMO.

(They made me sign an NDA. :( )

You'll have to explain what all this means but it sounds good.

I'm nerdy enough to have figured it out. NDA is non-disclosure agreement, which means he can't talk about it (like the name of the company or game or whatever, or details - this is mainly done to keep word from getting out to the competition).

I actually had to look up MMO - "Massive Multiplayer Online" as in an online game with lots of people inhabiting the same "place" and competing over the available resources and such. I must admit I haven't played much if any such games since "MUL", multiplayer (up to five players!) startrek on a mainframe circa 1979-1980.

But my guess is it's NOT Barbie related!

In the toidy.
That's just it - he can't tell. A non-disclosure agreement means he can't tell us what MMO it is.

Hence my guess at Barbie's Fun Times. He can't exactly confirm or deny, but I can speculate :D

Since when has Barbie's Fun Times needed a walkthrough?
But you never know... I once bought a Veggie Tales game because I thought it would be nice and relaxing, and I like some of the humor in the videos. (I like the French peas with the accents.) Then I got stuck on one of the blasted puzzles. I just couldn't figure out what to where Larry the Cucumber was supposed to go in the maze or something.

I swore so much that it pretty much obliterated any moral lesson the game taught me. ;) Then I gave up and went back to shooting all those poor misunderstood monsters in Doom. Some time later, I came across a walkthrough for the Veggie Tales game. Who knew?! :Wha: Someday, I'm going to put the CD in and complete the maze.

congratulations, bart. writing for games can be lucrative and fun, but it's definitely hard work, especially for an MMO.

best wishes on a successful project.

I looked over my copy of the NDA. I'm allowed to openly deny that this is for Barbie's Fun Times, regardless of whether or not I'm telling the truth. :)

Hard work doesn't begin to describe it, by the way. I've never had the fun sucked out of a game so fast...! :O

My first "MMO" game was Rogue on the Unix system at school -- at one point probably the entire university geek population was playing against one another. Good times, and it probably dates me.

Am I the only person who has never played a MMU or online game before.

BTW: Congrats Bart. Whatever it is you're doing.

First, congrats. It's great to get paid.

Second, I'm sorry. It does suck the life out of things.
