i've googled this and can't find anything

i'd like to know how someone can get an ulcerated kidney and the long term prognosis. this is for a non fic article on someone who got a kidney infection that resulted in ulceration and complications with her liver and gall bladder

In this context, "ulcerated" probably means that the infection ate holes in her kidney's tissue.

That's what "ulcer" means ... tissue damage, whether is be stomach ulcers, skin ulcers, or whatever.

Liver and gall bladder are anatomically real close to the kidneys ... if the infection escapes the kidneys, the liver and gall bladder may be next.
