For those who remember the movie Flash Gordon that came out way back in 1980 and had a kick-butt score by QUEEN...

Well, Sci-Fi is making it into a television series set to debut in August... at least that's what i've seen... Just hope it's good.

Favorite quote from the 1980 incarnation of Flash Gordon:

Pathetic earthlings. Hurling your bodies out into the void, without the slightest inkling of who or what is out here. If you had known anything about the true nature of the universe, anything at all, you would've hidden from it in terror.

As a huge Queen fan -- I have to agree. It was embarassing!

I think it was the subject matter :D

I liked it - and Brian Blessed as King of the Hawkmen - and lines like "Flash, Flash, I love you, but we only have 24 hours to save the world!"
Pity Flash himself couldn't act.
Come back Buster Crabbe, I say.

"Quick, strap yourselves down."

"Gordon's alive"

I still love this movie even if it bombed at the box office :) I liked Sam J. Jones :)

I'm listening to Flash's Theme right now--- granted it's not the BEST song but there are some that are MUCH worse---today's music isn't worth listening to.

And about Queen's soundtrack: it was a campy soundtrack for a campy film. Brilliantly done, imo.
Like beans and franks, each improved the other.

So much that is so great in that movie. Campy as hell and so much fun.

"Halt, Lizardman. Escape is impossible."

"We are delighted to hear of it. Fall on your sword. Show us this loyalty. Throw yourself on your sword."

"What do you mean...Flash Gordon approaching..."

The campiest bit was that Flash played for the Jets.

According to Empire Magazine, Sam J. Jones had troubles of some sorts with the director, which resulted in almost all of his dialogue being dubbed by a professional voice actor. The identity of this actor is still unknown.
Huh?

But will it compare to the He-Man movie starring Dolf Lundgren?
