I am self publishing a children's picture book. I am limited on the POD since most only print color covers. Any suggestions as far as printing goes? Is it something that I can take to a local printer?

Check into Lifevest publishing (www.lifevestpublishing.com). I looked into them months agp when I considered going that route with my own works. The person I worked with was very informative and they still keep me up to date on their publishing packages and the like.

Lulu.com prints color interiors, but may be too expensive, at fifteen cents per page.

You might want to contact Joan Barsotti for ideas about printers and printing. See http://www.barsottibooks.com/ -- Tell her I referred you to her.

She has had success with self-publisihed picture books for children.

Piers Anthony, a legendary SF writer, has this pretty exhaustive--if typically quirky--list of online publishers ranging from printers to vanity scams to good, solid POD and print publishers. Some of them ofer art book publishing.
