i feel like it can make some women look better but many others can look a lot worse with it.

especially if they pile it on before going out.

would it help if guys were able to see women without makeup?

maybe women could see other women as they really are and there will be less pressure or something.

im considering petitioning this for the Thrilly administration of 2025.

there's some godawful makeup application in this country.

I think you're just jealous that men don't get to wear make-up. :)

Maybe it would be better to require all teenage girls to take a class in make-up application.

You're being ridiculous... but I don't wear makeup for many of those reasons. I'm actually pretty skilled at applying it if I feel like it, but I never bother.

If you outlaw makeup, only outlaws will wear makeup.

or something like that...

I'm considering Bravo for a Pullet Surprize for this one.

No... the very second you outlawed makeup, everyone would want to wear it. That's the absolute fastest way to make sure someone does what you're trying to outlaw.

That said, I don't wear makeup because I'm too lazy. I don't get up early enough in the morning to go through that ritual, and also, since I lack practice, I suck at applying it. Then if I do have makeup on, it's a hassle for me to remove it before going to sleep. So I just don't bother with any of it! :)

Makeup classes would be a good idea... my favorite is when someone uses foundation 3x darker than their actual skin color, and they get that nice conspicuous line where the makeup ends right around their jaw.

I think makeup for women should be outlawed when flip-flops for men are outlawed.

Deal?

Tit for tat.

Or, maybe plummer-butt pants.

A bit of makeup is actually a wonderful thing, when used sparingly and correctly. It can make a huge difference, in my opinion. It evens out skin-tones, brightens and highlights your eyes and lips, for instance. I don't wear much, but I appreciate makeup.

Those links are interesting, but largely unfair. The 'natural' pics are mostly of the celebs 5-15 years older than the glamor shots, and making a funny face to boot.

I agree that overdone make-up is ruinous. I wear very little, but it certainly does brighten me up. It would be a very interesting experiment to see what attitude changes occurred if it all just went away.

With your and Billy's affinity for Victoria's Secret models, Bravo, I'm thinking it's not a great idea to outlaw make-up, glowy lighting and photoshop.

No way. Especially for people who are on TV and in movies. The lighting would wash them all out.

I do agree that most people have never thought about asking how it should be applied. A trip to the expensive mall makeup counters sometimes does help, because those ladies are given classes in how to apply (and sell) the correct stuff for each skin tone and type.

Me - I had stage makeup and modeling classes. (No, I was never, EVER going to be a model, but my mother wanted me to learn to walk like a woman instead of a truck driver.) You learn all kinds of tricks, like how to blow on the top of the brush before you apply any kind of colored powder (eyeshadow or blush) so you remove the excess and don't get that one heavy spot of color.

Reminds me of Prohibition. . . you think people would start organized crime syndicates. . . "glamor speak-easies?"

And yeah, I think Orlando Bloom probably does wear make-up.

I wonder mostly about lipstick. Do most men like the look of lipstick or not? There was a thread a while back about the new Bond film, Casino Royale, and several guys were bleating that Eva Green wasn't good-looking enough.

I think it was her lipstick. And I can offer some evidence. :) Full lips, while nominally an asset, are tricky. She's got 'em. Angelina's got 'em. I got 'em too. (Not wandering-in-the-desert-without-chapstick like Angie, but let's just say that if I were to scald my lips on hot broth, too large a percentage of my face would be stinging.) Trowel a fat layer of fire-engine red grease on them and YIKES!

Eva Green was lovely in the shots where she was less made up, but the garish paint didn't do her any favors.

Fellas? Lipstick or no lipstick?

If many states require cosmetologists to be licensed, then many people should become licensed cosmetologists. Can you imagine how it would sound with so many young girls begging to go to cosmetology school, which was once the punchline of many a white-trash joke?

Despite not being feminine in any other respect, I do love my make-up. If you saw how I look when I first wake up as compared to when I have all my make-up on, you'd see why. I've actually thought of trying my luck as a make-up artist a few years back. Ze make-up stays.

Let's make this fair, shall we? heheheh

If we women are required to allow you to view us without makeup so you can better judge if we're pretty enough for you to spend your time with, you men should have to drop your pants. If your whitey tighties are loose fitting ding ding ding..you're FIRRRRRED. If you are even WEARING whitey tighties...ding ding ding...you're FIRRRRED.

Classes for makeup? Yep. Okay. I'll agree to that.
Classes on how to fill out Calvin Klein underwear....hey...we have our priorities.
Now...bubba...I'll go wash this gunk off my face..and you...drop 'em!!!!

  :e2brows:

Trust me...you'll thank every god known to man that I wear makeup...

*Runs away from Kristie* Stay away from me you demon!!!!

Me - I had stage makeup and modeling classes. (No, I was never, EVER going to be a model, but my mother wanted me to learn to walk like a woman instead of a truck driver.)

Hahaha our moms would like each other a lot, mine did the same!! Except it didn't work for me, I still walk like a truck driver (and pretty much behave like one).

Despite not being feminine in any other respect, I do love my make-up. If you saw how I look when I first wake up as compared to when I have all my make-up on, you'd see why. I've actually thought of trying my luck as a make-up artist a few years back. Ze make-up stays.

Neh. It takes me about 5 minutes each morning to look like a human being. All I have to do is use some gel to get my hair back into place, slap my face a couple of times to get the blood running and put on clothes. Voila!

The most makeup you'll ever see me wearing is a little bit of eyeliner, because it makes my eyes look either yellow or green, depending on the lighting, but I rarely wear even that.

For me, makeup is evil and greatly overrated. I knew a girl who used a lot of makeup because she was pimply, but she didn't understand it was the makeup that was making her pimply, which kind of turned into a vicious circle.

I've talked to guys about this subject. The general consensus I've encountered is that they'd rather have a girl with no makeup than one that's wearing makeup. They like natural much, much better.
