Okay, now I'm floating on air and I can't come down! This past Thursday, I learned that my story "God, I'm Shvitzing!" will be published in Chicken Soup for the Soul in Menopause: Living and Laughing through Hot Flashes and Hormones, which is scheduled to be released August 1, 2007!

My wife Lisa had entered the perimenopause phase of life and was initially uncomfortable with me writing a story about that. I asked her to let me write one. Okay, I was practically on my knees begging! I even promised her "editorial control" over it. Translation: She could shred my hark work if she didn't like it! Fortunately, she loved it!

"What does a guy know about menopause," you ask. I guess you'll have to read the story to find out!

Take care.

Lawrence--Congratulations! I tried to come up with a story for that one and just couldn't do it. Turns out my husband has plenty of tales from living with me--I should have asked him for one. I think this is terrific!

Congrats Lawrence ,

Especially as its a YES from the folks from Chicken Soup and secondly because it's a topic that men do go through in silence - via their female other halfs and you managed to give men a voice on the issue!

Thank you all for your kind words. Last night my wife and I went out to dinner with a couple of good friends and we had a great time. They seemed as happy for me as my wife!

Reece, last week, I gave an interview to a freelance writer about the California foreclosure market and our conversation drifted into my writing (I have a web page section for my stories and articles). When I told her I had a story awaiting final approval from Chicken Soup on the subject of menopause, she asked, "What does a man know about menopause?" We both laughed because that is the norm. Now I know a man can never really know about menopause. But he can really care about menopause when someone he loves is suffering from the more severe effects of it...

Thanks again everyone!

Congratulations for selling this.

Nevertheless, I'd rather eat ground glass than read any Chicken Soup book, esp. one on menopause.

Hey, Lawrence, you're on a roll! First a story about your mom, now your wife (and I know your work has been in other anthologies before, too). Way to go!
