Saving as plain text from Final Draft
Better late than never, I hope.
In the
screenwriting tips thread in the
Script Writing forum there's a section titled:
Saving your screenplay to plain text format, suitable for copy/pasting into forum messages
...which includes instructions for FD users:
Final Draft or MS Word users: select File / Save As / change "Save as type" to "Text Only with Layout (*.txt)"
...followed by:
Once you save to a plain text file, edit this using Notepad or similar dumb text editor (I use Notepad2 -- works great) to check everything's OK, and to remove any unwanted pages. Once you're done, copy/paste what's left into your forum message editor box.
If you want to preserve script formatting you can put CODE tags at the top and bottom of your text in the forum message window. These can be added manually (just insert CODE in square brackets before your script pages, and /CODE in square brackets after your script pages).
Always select the Preview Post button to check your message will look the way you expect it to before you actually post.
