I found a singer/guitarist who was willing to take .wav recordings of my voice and interpret my songs in her own way. We're collaborating on a certain piece I wrote about a year ago.

I can't write music, I don't know the names of notes or chords. But the lyrics come to me anyway.

Russian Roulette

The enormity of my stupidity
Shakes me to my core
The risks I take, the mistakes I make
I'm always making more
Just when I thought I had learned
I open up that door
I never look before I leap
I should know what's in store
But
I'm an idiot, I'm a stupid idiot
How come I can not learn? learn learn learn
I'm an idiot, I'm a stupid idiot
And once again I've been burned, burned burned burned

The gravity of my depravity
Weighs me down like stone
It's a monster I must feed
But I should leave alone
What the hell is wrong with me
You'd think I would have known
But once again I did not see
Despite what I've been shown
'Cause
I'm an idiot, I'm a stupid idiot
How come I can not learn? learn learn learn
I'm an idiot, I'm a stupid idiot
And once again I've been burned, burned burned burned

I take a reckless risk
I am careless
I can't explain
I'm playing with that gun
I think I'm having fun
But it's a stupid game

Yeah
I'm an idiot, I'm a stupid idiot
How come I can not learn? learn learn learn
I'm an idiot, I'm a stupid idiot
And once again I've been burned, burned burned burned

Click here (http://www.princeton.edu/%7Emguerrer/russianroulette.mp3) for a slow, spooky version of the first verse. The singer will speed it up and perk it up for her next attempt at interpreting what I sent.

I told her to be glad I bothered to write a bridge, since I usually don't (because I assume that my songs will remain unsung). It's very awesome, very cool to have a helper and to hear someone else sing what I wrote.

Updates will follow as they become available. She has chosen two other songs that I will record when I have a good voice day and some privacy. I'll post separate threads if we get to work on the other material. For now, I'm just thrilled that Russian Roulette has come to some sort of fruition.

This looks quite promising. :-) Like the lyrics, really do. Would be cool to hear her version. How nice to have someone to collaborate with, go you!

Well I'm humming it, that's a good sign...
