I am writing my first query letter (OMGZ!) and am wondering if I should include that I used to submit stories for an on-line collector of stories of that specific genre. Strictly on line and not editor/publisher related; just a happy web site of stories that contain ABC.

Will an agent give a crap about that?

If it involved some level of editorial direction/selection, it could work for you. If not, I'd say leave it out.

Skip it unless you were paid.

I agree that if it was a paying gig, include it. If it was selective, rejecting many of the stories submitted, maybe. But if the site accepted anything about ABC, omit it.

Maryn, who's written quite a few ABC stories herself

Ooh, tough call! I have included stuff like this with a certain degree of deliberate vagueness, such as: "My work has appeared in a number of online publications." Even if that "number" was only 2.

Come to think of it, 1 is a number as well. So that would still work. :D
