In publisher listings (eg Writer's Market) I've seen the word 'hilo' listed as a genre. Can someone explain what it means, please?

Spread out, ya knuckleheads. The lady wants an answer!
It's shorthand for a children's and middle reader sub-genre known as high interest, low reading level. Usually, they're adventure packed medium length novels specifically for reluctant readers and told in simple easy to follow language.
