I think I remember how to do that. I wonder where my cell went.

Nope, hate to use the worst four letter word but - - can't.

Never done it. I lose.

Maestro, you missed the best bit: After she won the cash, she said she couldn't wait to go shopping.

I bet a hundred bucks that she spends money faster than she can text.

Cheering you all on!
I won't laugh 'cuz my sister just got her 70-page cell phone bill for the 3300 text messages she sent last month. Now that she's changed her plan to have unlimited text messages, she'll probably send more (she just started a long distance relationship with a guy who prefers texting over calling)

I think I've seen those before. I avoid school almost as hard as I avoid cell phones.

Right. It's not "saving it for college" or "taking my family on a vacation" or... It's to spend it all on "shopping."

Where are her parents, by the way?

The OTHER Answer, The One from That Movie...

It's a big, boring book you read for school.
No, no, no, no, no... wrong answer.
What's text?
It's like a collection of words, y'know, like in a book, you read it and it tells you things. But that's not important now... <typing furiously on cellphone>

And what's this shopping thing? I seem to be behind the times.

Ben, I stand(well, sit in a recliner, actually) in awe, you win. Absolutely perfect. I recline in awe.

I loathe texting that much that when I get one I usually phone the person back.

My daughter, bless her soul, once went over her limit by thousands and I mean thousands of texts for the month and I got the bill. Never has really paid me back. Man, teenagers live on cellphones, it's crazy!

"Texting" or text-messaging is useful when you can't really make a call (in libraries, at concerts, etc.) -- it's fast, simple, and you can actually carry on a conversation that way (albeit slow and inconvenient -- if you want to have a conversation, just use the damn phone, IMO). But 8000 messages a month? Either she has a lot of friends or she's just "talkative." I'm sure she has an unlimited plan which usually costs about $15-20 a month.

Text messages are great for one thing - drive by booty calls. Can send out a dozen with no problems, and no unnecessary talking.

Needless to say I haven't sent a text message since I started dating my wife.

I don't get text messaging. You use your cell phone to write something to somebody else. Why can't you just call them? I do get it for kids, they think they're clever by using them to sort of a note pass in class.

And I dislike the fact that I get charged for an incoming text. That's just wrong to me.

Fad.

There are times when you can't make or receive calls -- say, you're in a meeting, at lunch with business associates, driving, at the movies, during a concert, etc. It's more discreet to send and receive text messages. It's like instant email.
