View Full Version : 9 Agents Looking at Requested Material

So, I have nine agents looking at requested material right now. I figure I'd better hurry up and post here before the rejections start pouring in (at which point you'll find me over in my usual haunt, Rejection and Dejection). I'm pretty sure my novel sux, given the amount of rejections I've had thus far, but it's still fun to dream.

I decided to post here because A) it's unlikely that I'll ever have nine submissions out to agents simultaneously ever again, and B) when I look back at how I never got published, I can always say I came thisclose and that nine agents reading my stuff at once was my personal best.

Yeah. If anyone has any spare good luck kicking around, feel free to shove some my way! ;)

Y'know what, Pisarz? 9 agents requesting your material is absolutely outstanding! You should be so thrilled!

You are ridiculously talented and determined. Toes, fingers, legs, eyeballs, etc. crossed for you that one of these 9 agents is "The One" :Hug2:

OMG, that's great! If so many have asked for further material, there must be a reason. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you (not my thumb, though, because I slammed it in a window today and it really hurts).

Good luck!!!

Dang, life's a garden. Dig it! You either have one hell of a premise, or an oustanding query letter--or both, fo gawd's sakes. Wonderful accomplishment. You have some good odds there.

Good Luck Pisarz! With 9 agents looking at your work, you'll be back here in no time trying to choose between the 8 that want you to sign a contract. You wrote one helluva query letter (BTW, is it in SYW?) and you need to keep that same confidence when the phone calls start rolling in.
Keeping everything crossed for ya!

Every time I see this thread title, my head goes,

9 Agents Looking...

... and a partridge in a pe-a-ae-r tree.

:tongue

But, um, yeah-- nine agents, that is pretty outstanding. As other folk have said, you're obviously done something right! :D

Wow, thank you all so much! I'm all warm and fuzzy inside, even though I haven't fed my chocolate addiction in several hours.

I wish I had 10% of the confidence you collectively have in my agent-snagging chances. Trust me, I will be back here in a heartbeat if anything really good comes of these requests.

Thanks again. :)

Hey, NEVER say NEVER! All you need is for ONE to make your efforts pay off. Not long ago I also felt I would never be published. I'm not John Grisham (yet!), but as the old saying goes:

"I ain't what I want to be but thank God Almighty I ain't what I was!"

Pardon the poor English...

Much success! :)

Never give up, honey, never surrender!!!!!

**sneaks in side door, looking over shoulder**

I want to hurry up and post this just in case it doesn't live through the night: I hit double digits today! 10 agents looking at my stuff.

**hurries back out, relieved to share the achievement before agents start sending along the big R's**

Ooh, I'm sorry I didn't see this post until now. GOOD LUCK PISARZ!! 10 freaking agents! I don't think I've even ever had that many queries out at once, let alone requests for material. ;)

Whoa! Ten? :e2thud:

Pisarz

Make that 11! And I'm not querying anymore until I get some responses, just in case the novel falls far short of the query itself (which, of course, it will).

I'm down to ten. Something tells me there will be a countdown from ten to one in the coming weeks and then the rocket will just fall over, a total dud.

But hey, I never claimed to be a rocket scientist. Sigh.

Have faith in your writing ability. If it sucks, re-write it so as not to suck. If you believe, it will happen... :D

If you've got nine agents actually looking at your stuff, you're doing something incredibly right.

All the same, I applaud your tenacity (if that's how you spell it?)
