This may be a tiny accomplishment, but nevertheless, it makes me sooooo happy. :snoopy:

I've just received a notification that the story I submitted for the first quarter in the L. Ron Hubbard Writers of the Future Contest has been chosen as a FINALIST. They will select the 3 winners in the next three weeks. I'm keeping my fingers and toes crossed.

I'll need all the luck in the universe, because frankly, all I've been collecting are rejection slips.

Anya, that is really great news and an accomplishment. It ain't easy to place in that contest. I reached the quarter finals in 1990 after submitting for three years. A huge congrats to you--you've made it further!

Thanks, tri and zahra. I was so happy last night, I was dancing in my office, then crying and laughing; I couldn't believe it. Your support and good wishes means the world to me, thanks.

Wow! Congratulations! That is definitely a biggie.

The WoF Contest is one of the best contests out there (as far as SFF go) and is definitely a fine feather to put in your cap. It'll look great in any queries etc. you send out.

I'm getting ready to purchase The Name Of The Wind, a new novel by Patrick Rothfuss that has gotten rave reviews. I read his original short story in the 2004 (I think) editon of the Writers of the Future book.

Kudos and best of luck to you, Anya. :)

Jeez, there's nothing tiny about this. I love reading short collections such as Writer's of the Future and Years Best Fantasy and Horror. I look forward to them, and look forward to reading your piece. Now, when I'm slumming around the book rack I can say I sort of, kind of, in a distant way, know one of the writers.

Thank you, The Lady, for the finger crossing. The WOTF was my goal too, and I've sent them my best story at the time.

Angelinity, thanks for crossing fingers.

Thanks, Arisa81. Cool user name.

Pike, thanks so much. Of course, you know me, though lately I've been so busy with life that I've been neglecting the boards. I do hope my story will win, for only then will it be included in the anthology.

CaoPaux, thaks for the good wishes.

Shwebb, my Forum Buddy, thank you so much.

:Hug2: to everyone. Love, Anya

Congratulations, Anya! Do you know when they'll select the winners? Even if you don't make the top three, this still gives you a shot at being a published finalist.

Good luck!

Woot! Go you!

I finished the story I want to submit to them last week :) I'm letting it rest for a little while before a final reread before sending it off for the last quarter.
Who knows, maybe we'll get published together ;)

Best of luck!

Thanks, Thump.

They're working on the first quarter still. Second quarter is January-March. Your story would be in 3rd quarter.

Good Luck, and let's get published together. :)
