...I know it's immature, childish, and unprofessional, but I still get a huge kick out of including the following two words in my vocabulary:

my agent

As in "I got an email from my agent and she..."

or

"My agent said she sent the ms to...."

There, I did it again!

Ignore me...it's late and I'm just being silly.

Hehe, yeah me too. I wish more of the people I said it to understood what it really meant (and the pain sweat and tears I have shed trying get one . . . not to mention selling my first born . . . oh wait, I mean, nevermind.)

You know what other words I like? "Out on submission." Hehe. and I am looking forward to someday (yanno, like in 27 years) being able to say, "My editor," and maybe even one day, "My publicist.":)

And I'm happy for you David!!

Wait until you start to say "my publisher" or "my editor." * giggle *

David,

Don't you EVER get over that feeling. No matter how successful you get. What's the point of success if it means all the deliciousness and fun have to circle the drain in the name of sophistication? Pfft on that. I always wonder just why being all blase' and jaded and bored is suposed to be some sort of signal that we've "arrived." Nonsense.

You worked hard for this. It's part of your reward. Savor it.

David, I think you can be forgiven. You'll probably never get tired of saying it, so enjoy the moment each and every time it happens.

Being able to say, "I just have to phone my agent" remains one of my lifelong goals.

Even more of my favorite words...

MY BOOKS!

Congrats Dave!

Congratulations!

And I hope you hold on to that feeling, that it is an accomplishment. It is so easy to lose sight of that, when you face the next steps in the process, with all the ups and downs (like your agent is submitting, and passing along some of the inevitable rejections--where I am right now:-)

I'm with you. Lately, I've been able to add "Here's my card" since the online publication I write for weekly just provided me with shiny new business cards that verify that yes, I am a writer, thankyouverymuch. MUCH better than the ones I made at home by myself with a laser printer.
