It was pretty cool and I'm going to go back and work on the story further. Here is what they said:

Dear Mr. Hammer,

Thank you for the opportunity to read your story. We like the idea but
feel it merits a much deeper treatment than a simple narrative summary.

You have enough plot points for a several thousand word story. Take the
time to develop living breathing characters through action, dialogue, and
setting. Read through the issues of to understand what we
want in a story.

We hope you decide to develop this story into something more substantial
and satisfying for our readers because we really do like the premise for
it.

I think that's pretty cool. . . ;)

Eric

That sounds hopefull. I just received the best rejection letter myself today. It told me my idea was very interesting, but the story should be a bit longer. It filled me with hope. Congratulations on the "not half bad" rejection.

And even as personalized rejections go, that's pretty suh-weet! Making stories longer/more fleshed out is usually pretty easy to do if you're still enthusiastic about the story. Good luck with your other submissions, and on this project if you decide to rewrite! :)
