Hi Guys,

I know this is a long shot, but several years ago (1990's) I read a book that was set in medieval times on a Med Island during the time of one of the plagues. It centred around a young man and his love and followed the lives of the colorful Islanders and their confusion over the deaths of their friends and families. The inhabitants didn't understand what was happening and thought it was something to do with their sins. In the end all inhabitants die.

I've been looking for years for this book but I don't remember the title or author. Perhaps it might ring a bell with someone here? Fingers crossed. It was a brilliant book and I am desperate to get hold of it again.

Thanks in advance.

Hi, Annie. I'm afraid I don't know your book, but I can direct you to some people who might.

These sites have at least some book search capability. Some have message boards or “stump the _____” boards where experts go for a challenge--and in my limited experience, the book searches where people get involved seem to be the ones that end happily with a title and author’s name. Good luck finding the one you’re looking for!

Could it be...

Abel's Island by William Steig was YA literature, but excellent quality

OR

The Fantasy Cycles of Clark Ashton Smith were published much earlier but have remained in print pretty much constantly... I believe the Island he invokes is actually Australia.
