The sun is shining, and though the grass is not green where I'm at, I can still feel that spring is in the air.
Share your spring poems here. Something old, or something new. Happy or sad, funny or mad, as long as it's related to the spring in some way.
I'll start us out with an old favorite of mine:

***

Pagan Rite

As evening fell I knew somehow
that it was not like other evenings,
and as a shadow touched my weary head
and traveled down my spine,
I knew that things would change
from now on.

Bring the light, bring the love, bring the fire.
Bring the healing pine needles from the mire.
Bring the clear crystal water of a brook of spring.
Bring me a sight stone and an old silver ring.
But when you have, then above everything -
bring me life.

As elemental forces danced around me
and as the whispers of demons sang of sinning,
my head cleared from the fog of ages past
and the present was all I could remember,
for all times were in that time,
and all choices.

Bring the sword, bring the shield, bring the fire.
Bring the treasures from underneath the mire.
Bring me a thousand of injustices and one right.
Bring the wisdom of the gods and all their might.
But when you have, and before I go to fight -
bring me life.

As the wolf and the banshee cried for freedom,
and the fish played in rivers and lakes,
and as the sun ruled supreme
in the far reaching sky,
I knew that things were a changing
from now on.

Bring the blood, bring the snow, bring the fire.
Bring the gold of the north from the mire.
Bring the steel of the mountains upon high.
Bring the secrets of the fey in a sigh.
But when you have, then before we say goodbye -
bring me life.

I will offer something old, first. I did this one in the outside your window game, I think. A couple of weeks ago. I will write a new one next...

Winter is Broken

The long shivering spine
of winter
is broken, its once pristine bones
now splintering to muck…
the leaves of the august whore
shredded by the heavy coat
of the tiring season, sinking
to feed the hungry spring.
The druids like this season best,
their semi-erect angels
springing hallelujahs to a sleeping God,
willing his budding touch
inside their empty maiden skirts.
All is brown outside this window,
secret but for the sound of melting snow,
the anticipation of things to come.

This spell of darkness
Has been broken
All of these things,
All of our feelings
Budding out of the ground

Little creeks, giant rivers
Little flowers, massive trees
Sunshine blinding through the window

It's finally spring.

still floating
Spring teeters on the washboard,
diving in the multicolored
bubbles, faceted; it takes my hand
and scrubs it clean, exhales, and
drags me up toward the roof. We
lay on the shingles, breathless
at what's been created--and then
spring springs back down
to Earth again,
prodding buds into blooming with
every gossamer step.

Sleep... Those little slices of Death. How I loath
Spring

SPRING

The colors are so bright
The birds are singing cheerfuly
The Lord's name is echoed
In the whisper of the wind
Spring has come,
Come to remind us
Just how beautiful life is.

now this alone must the cold darkness know
as the bright sun melts destroying her snow
Winter's time to reign has fallen to time
and fairest Spring now rules in light sublime
warmer days invoke barren limbs to bloom
and flowers brightly burst from earthen tomb
I find myself seeking the new sun's rise
where I will worship beneath warmer skies

I have some song lyrics that might read ok as poetry.

"Fall and Spring"

Sweet September song
This feels more like New Year's
I can't be wrong
New jeans, jackets and sneakers
The summer's gone
The leaves are turning, they're gonna be falling
There's something wrong
Hearing someone calling my name
Feeling things will not be the same
Feeling I'm reeling away
Falling, falling

Mid-March morning sun
Streams through bare brown branches
Steams the dew away
Chases all my chances
St Patrick's Day
Green beer, corned beef and cabbage
I'm on my way
Leaving all my baggage behind
Springtime, time to clean out my mind
Springtime, leave all my worries behind
Springtime, springtime

Spring is here and so am I
Clouds float past me. Overhead,
wingbeats tell me birds still fly.
You left me here. I want you dead.
