For those of you who frequent the rejection threads, you know that my computer crashed a few weeks ago, and I lost my WIP. I couldn't recover it from the recovery software after mutilple tries. I was so sad and frustrated that I didn't touch it for weeks.

Well, over the past few days, I made myself sit still and scan the pages of the last printed draft I had. The scans were coverted into Word. It took a long time, and of course, I still lost the most recent revisions, but I now have another WIP. I remember most of the revisions, and I made notes so I can pick up where I left off. (And this time, I backed it up!)

This has been a trying time for me, but I'm happy that I can at least go back to working on my latest project. I've been bummed about it ever since my laptop crashed.

So there is some sunshine at the end of the tunnel.

Glad to hear that you've got some of your WIP back, Dani. All is not lost.
Thank goodness for notes, that's what I say. All the best with your writing. :)

Yay! Sunshine is good! My heart broke for you when I saw what had happened. Sometimes the best thing to do when you're that frustrated is to step back and come back when you don't feel that blood vessel bursting as bad. Thank goodness for hard copies.

I'm so happy everything is working out for you!

Excellent, Dani. Glad you were able to salvage something. I know what that whole "AAAAH! I didn't back it up!" thing feels like.

Well done! In your place, I don't know if I could've had as much patience.

I didn't have a choice. I would've had to either retype it all or scan it. It took a while to scan each page individually, but at least the pages were single-spaced. I'm just grateful to have a scanner that converts the scans into a Word document. That was a life saver.

I'm so glad it's looking up for you - doesn't it just suck when the computer becomes the enemy?? Now you just have to remember to talk nice to it so that it doesn't become HAL again :)

I called Dell, and they swear it's the operating system and not the computer. I've had a few more problems even since I reinstalled the O.S. But now that I know that, I back up everything right away.

Phew! Thank God for that. I'm so pleased for you. But we're still having gin and chocolate if I come to New York.
